Part of the enjoyment of drinking a Guinness is the anticipation because the pouring of it can't be rushed. It has to be drawn slowly and steadily into the glass to get that perfect head on it - all the better when the bar staff add a shamrock pattern into the head. I enjoyed several pints of the stuff during my trips to Ireland, especially on a hot summer's day (which they do get there occasionally!). That Titanic Museum looks amazing - great to see the development in Belfast over the past 20 years.
@DanegerAndStacey6 жыл бұрын
Such a unique way they pour the pint isnt it - have to admit I actually almost walked away from the bar with a 70% full glass thinking the bar tender was done when I first ordered one haha!

FTN were in Ireland with the tourism board and we were there on a tour - that often means you have a limited time and you're shown the best spots on offer. We are kindred spirits. I like the idea of museums and galleries but my attention tends to waver a wee quite quickly. Was in Glasgow recently and was at the Kelvingrove musuem, and whilst I loved it, i breezed through it in record time whilst my mate could have spent half a day there. haha Does that make me uncultured? Now, walking around Grey Abbey is right up my alley! I could so easily spend a few hours just walking through the gravestones and taking in the history. Wet concrete without a sign? Think about it this way, at least you now have a piece of Bangor on your shoe.

@@DanegerAndStacey I really don't think so, you are from New Zealand and are really nice people so it's obvious no insult was intended! And as I said the Irish are a lovely people, even to us English when we meet them face to face. Found your vlog by accident and had to watch the whole thing. I live in Bangor but my wife came back to here from New Zealand (her Mum, Dad & her had emigrated to New Zealand in the 60's and came back in the late 70's. She has never lost her accent - it's more New Zealand than yours. Your comparison of South to North and change in currency would be similar to USA and Canada having different currencies. You should do some research on immigration to New Zealand from UK back in the 60's . Back then , to encourage people to emigrate there was a thing called the £10 ticket. That's exactly what they charged you for a one way ticket to either New Zealand or Australia. That's why there are so many people of UK or Northern Irish descent out there. The reason why the family came back was that in the 70's everywhere in NZ closed at about 6.00pm and there was nothing to do unless you liked sheep.! You should do some research on early Bangor history. You'll find it was quite an important place from a religious point of view. It even gets a mention on a famous old map (The map de Mundial) I'll keep an eye out for future vlogs Happy travelling

Only 5 people on the tour...? Soooo much more time to clarify & chat with guide... The reason why local beers taste better in their home country is pasteurisation (or lack there of)... At home they are not required to go through pasteurisation, thus allowing them to keep more of the flavour... Similar thing with a lot of cheeses...

Sport is not separated in ireland between the two parts of ireland except for soccer in which they are two national teams Rep of ireland and Northern Ireland.Basically they are two communities in the north unionisy and nationalist.Unionists are usually prothestant and support the union with great britain consider themselves british and northern irish and nationalist nearly always catholic who consider themselves irish and want an united ireland outside the UK.OF course there is now a group in between who are not fussed ,but thats only recently generally they don't consider themselves british or irish. So the Nationalist athletes will normally go with the republic team and the unionist athlete with the UK team and the middle ground will go with the team that picks them.This is all possible because as per the GFA agreement of 1996 the northern irish have dual citizenship of the UK and The republic of ireland so they can travel with either a british passport or an irish one obviously they will need an irish passport if on the irish team. Gaelic football and hurling are the irish national sports played all over ireland, governed by GAAbut in NI unionists don't usually play them because they are seen as nationalist sportsand in the past had IRA members playing .So they are primarily played by nationalists and are a vital part of there irish identity Hope i simplified enough i am from the republic so i don't pretend to understand it fully but i know the basics
