Love the slow mo of Stacey strapping on her helmet! The second beach is definitely the best of the two featured here. As for the insect war cries, we heard similar on a visit into the jungle in West Bengal last year; it is insanely loud! I'm liking the look of the island so far so can't wait to see what unfolds in the next videos.

I spent some time there last year, and indeed the second beach 'Nopharat Tara' (if Iam not wrong) is more visited by the locals. But if you had wandered from the longtail ticket booth you showed us, down that more pedestrian road, you would end up on a quieter side of that beach, where there are a few bars/restaurants and some regular massage places close to the beach with no road in between. It's also a very nice place ti stay (and you don't need the scooter if your hotel is in that part of Ao Nang. I like your photographics skills, you make very nice shots. Great work. Keep going.
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the kind comments, thanks Paul. Good tip on that little road down past the longtail boats as well, on our Railay trip we noticed that smaller part of the beach but didnt realise it could be reached without being at one of the resorts - awesome!

Thx for posting guys. You've confirmed everything I found researching the area. I'll be there in just a "few" more weeks... with a total time of 1 month in Thailand; and then off to everyone's favorite island, Boracay (yes, I've watched your video of the island). I went back and forth deciding how much time to spend in Ao Nang proper or whether to split my time and stay in railay beach. I decided on a hotel on the edge of town in Ao Nang, but still convenient to everything by walking. Decided I can take day trips to Railay, as u showed, it's very cheap to commute there; and if I like it there enough, I may pay for a hotel for one night. The 7 weeks in southeast Asia is focused around being at the beach-- and yes the food in Thailand. Ao Nang looks like one of the weaker spots for the beach, and really commercialized, but still with some beautiful beaches within easy reach. thx again.

Sounds like your research is accurate, we visit Railay in our next vlog and enjoyed it, but very busy and pricier again... feel free to scan back over any of our past videos and see the amount we respond to comments. Then maybe take a second to consider how many comments a channel like ours receives, and how many hours every single day that might take to respond to?

Sgt.Pepper. I'm from Canada and am heading down for the month of November. First stop is Ao Nang for two weeks ( at the edge of town as well ). Then two nights at Railay, three nights at Ko Phi Phi, two nights at Ko Lanta then finishing up north to Cha Am to find a place to bunker down for the Canadian winters. I find Ao Nang is a great place to take off for a lot of day excursions, which is why l did the first two weeks here. Enjoy your trip in paradise.

Hey guys I’m so excited for you guys to be hanging in AoNang. It looks like our guys were staying up the hill where we were last month. We stay at the The Sea Condo. Enjoy! You might want to look at renting a private long tail boat for the day. That was was an awesome experience this allows you to stop were you want and you get to decide how long you want to stay in a certain spot. You also might ant to check out a resturant called Kadam Kitchen great Thai food. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos on Krabi. How long will you guys be there?

Haven't been back to Krabi in almost 5 years. Nice to see it still remains pretty chilled out. My main getaway is Phuket, which I visit yearly but I'm going to Krabi very soon. Private personal tours are always best when island hopping and exploring the surrounding areas. They cost more but to me but gives you a much better experience, almost priceless. You get to really just go wherever the tourists don't. Although I urge you to be friendly and talk to the locals and you'll have a much better experience overall in Krabi

What do you do with a rented scooter when you want to go to Railay for the day for example or just wanna go walking and/or swimming for a couple of hours? Just leave it by the side of the road? Do you need to take any precaution?
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
Just park it up with the crowd and it will be fine - some places give you a chain and lock to use if you need to. We rented the scooter for our Railay trip, easier to spend 250b and hae your own freedom around when you arrive and leave.

Great to see some familiar places. I have been going to the Krabi area since 2001. I have to be honest, it has really lost much of its charm over the years. Ao Nang is basically destroyed because of over development. It had always been an over priced place but now it is a full on rip. $14 for breakfast wow. I am glad to see that at least you moved up the road a ways and caught a glimpse of what it was once like. The entire Krabi region is growing and prospering which is great to seefor the local economy, but it does now take more effort to have a more genuine experience there. I have always found that staying in actual Krabi Town, was the best jump off point. First of all there are a number of inexpensive places to stay, granted more modest, but comfortable. There are also lots more places to eat, especially on the outskirts where you will actually see Thai people eating not just other tourists. Renting a scooter and dining and shopping are all less expensive. If you have the time and a scooter there are a lot of great places to explore around the region. If you head north you can come across enclaves of the people that are referred to as Sea Gypsies, or south to the hot springs. For the most part all of the islands are well past their prime, simply because they have all been "discovered" But with a bit of effort and adventure it is a wonderful region of Thailand. Keep up the great videos.
@DanegerAndStacey5 жыл бұрын
Agree with most of what you've said, Dave - it is a little sad to see how developed the main Ao Nang strip is, but loved that just one bay over there is peace and beauty still. Suppose it fits for everyone if you're willing to look for it. Or the luxury and commercial stuff is there if you just want those comforts.
@davesivirn22835 жыл бұрын
@@DanegerAndStacey I didn't mean to come off harshly. One of the great things about Thailand and of course travel in general is that with a bit of effort and creativity, it is possible to find the exact experience you are seeking, and some you didn't expect.
