The rod was slightly over-tightened, giving the neck a slight back bow. I just got one recently and not much information about them. Seem bastardized by Danelectro itself as to their existence. Sucks not to just got to them for guitar history and specs and support passively, but maybe they’d send me something in an email. Well worth the $200 as good action and decent setup immediately. Little chunkier neck than 59dc’s I play, but the fret board radius familiar and guess at 14” like most other models. Single coils alone sounded decent at the thrift store guitar shop and with the term bridge a fair strat copy. Sounded good through my existing floor processor settings, amp models and amp. Little heavy, but not ridiculous. Physically not a wonderful balance for me. Neck rides heavy on the strap and rides low from my usual playing position. I’m lifting and adjusting like pulling up baggy pants. Moving strap buttons probably solve it. The built in effects sounded crappy at the shop and marginally better through same signal chain. Sucks some tone in that circuit with effects off and I’d say limited adjustments to dial them in that well, but as a novelty they are okay, I think I’m pulling the effects circuit out and re-locate vol tone and 5way switch as they definitively in the way of my pick hand and comfortable techniques. Flipping the 5 way and rolling the volume accidentally a lot. I like the moserite like body and headstock works with it to be sexy. Mines brown burst and not really very attractive color or sparkle. I think a more colorful glitter burst appropriate. Match the headstock and new water slide just for Nate. Pickguard is little hokey shape I’m not thrilled with, but the white pearloid looks okay. I don’t know… Expect might change it. I’ve not removed it yet so not sure how hogged out it is. Pearloid black with hint at fender pickguard might be cuter. If I’m going to glitter paint.. the fret markers might match and people like the ebony black fret boards over rose wood. Keep that material under $200 with a case would be cool. Let’s not discuss my labor cost. I have a latino work ethic for cost effect and a great appreciation for a guitar looking and sounding very sexy on me that’s very hard to put a price on. I feel committed now and very certain of myself. Lolol

Hodad without the bigsby is one I thought I’d get next. Clearly I should plan for a few pick guards for some options open. Go medium sized or go home that’s what I always say. It’s a poor rat with one hole to run to. Random fate and used guitars are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get until you bite into something disgusting. Nothing ventures, nothing gained. Lol

I didn’t have a positive opinion until I actually played it and I was reminded how pragmatic and yet effective Nathan Daniels design concepts were. New danelectro retained a considerable amount of it in their reissues. And this isn’t a huge exception and authentic to something past and the popular stomps that reignited the brand.
