@@Melissa31179 I don't think they're purposefully making druid overpowered, but I think they are purposefully making every expansion much more powercreeped than the last to keep the newest packs selling and that's naturally going to a favor a class with a relatively unique ability to break one of the core systems of the entire game. As long as people keep buying $20 hero skins they're not going to bother with playtesting at this point though, that much is very clear.

So if the end goal is 2x 8 cost astalor, you have two ways of setting it up If you have 11 armour, you can go anub'rekhan -> brann, which works within the confines of 10 mana and allows you to weave the 2 cost astalor in at the start as well Otherwise, brann -> anub'rekhan, which works with no armour but requires you to have at least 11 mana, plus 2 mana or armour if you haven't played the 2 cost astalor yet

So, Blizzard said that Manathirst would not trigger from Battlecry effects, unless the word *instead* is used. Dane was right in saying that Brann + Astalor, the Flamebringer should deal 24 damage, but it deals 32 instead @14:31

I believe that it's most likely bugged that it deals 32 instead of 24, because it's not consistent with the rest of the Manathirst from all 3 Alastor cards, the first ones also doubles (dealing 4 damage), the second one doesn't doubles (gives only 5 not 10 armor) and the third one doubles (dealing 32 damage), i tought it was because it enhances the battlecry to be 16 intead of being a separeted 8 damage, so everything doubles, but that doesn't explain why the first doubles but the second doesn't, as both of them have the same battlecry effect outside of the Manathirst. If the second one doubled it would give you enough armor to play the whole combo by itself even without having any armor before (8x2+5x2+5x2=36, the whole combo costs 28 armor), of which we can see that didn't happen at 14:35, so either the second one is bugged and everything sould be getting doubled (i believe it's not the case because it's not a Battlecry effect) or the first and the third are bugged and getting doubled when they shouldn't. The only thing that sould double in the combo is the amount of Alastor created. Still the combo would be nuts even if the doubling gets removed, would go from 64 to 48 damage, that's still a lot... oh Druid why are you like that?

It's pretty accurate to my recollections of WoW, actually. At least the last time I was a raider, Warriors tanked by stance dancing, shield blocking, and juggling various mechanics and cooldowns, while bear Druids just had a million armor and hp.

I've been playing Classic WoW last few years (First version of the game from 2004 + the first 2 expansions TBC and Wrath). Druid was 1 of the original 3 classes that could be tanking (Paladin and Warrior also), only had limited tools to stay alive. That being Bearform with lots of Health and Armor, and the possibility to dodge. When it comes to Hearthstone, I would say Warrior also has lots of ways to actually get Armor historically, but Druid at least in wild just has better ways to stack armor while drawing cards and playing towards their combo.

Well it's not nearly as consistent to keep your armor and almost Impossible to get to high armor totals in standard tho without sacrificing slots to bad cards. Meaning just about any aggro deck would beat it in standard if you still want the crazy card draw or ramp . Just because Combo pieces are available in another format doesn't mean the shell around it also exists. I can imagine a demon seed situation tho where the cards are great in both formats but they end up playing completely different from each other

This is kinda weird isn't it? So Manathirst is suppoed to work more like Combo rather than Battlecry, i.e. it shouldn't be getting doubled by Brann. Yet the final card's mana thirst of doing an extra 8 damage bundles onto the battlecry, making it doubleable by Brann. I think that might either be a bug or something they didn't think through (shock and horror) and will change post-release.

I don't think it's a bug so much as just an ambiguous way of expressing their idea (hardly the first time). The way they used the word "more" in the manathirst's "Deal 8 more" seems to be a shorthand for "the battlecry deals 8 more damage." So in this one's case, it seems that the manathirst's effect is to enhance the battlecry (which gets doubled by Brann) rather than being a separate 8-damage effect. I don't really see them considering this interaction a bug or oversight. They may end up nerfing it if it's overpowered, but I think even that's unlikely. The cost is pretty reasonable any time you have to pay mana for the cards instead of armor--Anub'Rekan is what made this all happen (and, of course, veteran combo multiplier Brann).
