@@tonyb9735 the only reason this is even close is because Ding got fucked over my a pandemic harder than any chess player alive. Before the pandemic he was very clearly stronger than Ian. So yes from a chess point of view he should win because he should have been better and if he loses it’s because of unlucky outside influence. And in that time he has been screwed over and was forced to play at night in full lockdown and horrible conditions etc he has been through so much more than Ian so from that side he also deserves it way more.
@tonyb9735
@tonyb9735 Жыл бұрын
@@nexesses1548 Meh. My heart bleeds for him. Not. Lockdown is ancient history, and it wasn't great for anybody. There is no luck on a chess board. If Ding beats Ian, then - and only then - would he deserve to win the world title. If, as you say, Ding is "very clearly stronger than Ian" then that shouldn't be a problem, right? FWIW I am cheering for Ding. I think it will be close, but I suspect that Ian will make too many unforced errors under pressure.

I feel like this is what makes players like Magnus and Kasparov such great champions, their defensive abilities and being able to spend the time when needed to find the best moves is second to none. I remember when Short has Kasparov under immense pressure in ‘93 and Garry kept finding defensive resources. Neop clearly has an amazing natural ability to be able to play at this level and do it so quickly but maybe his spidey senses are not quite as refined as they need to be at spotting incoming danger.
