I like the quotes, am I the only one who finds those actually quite inspiring and truthful? Seriously I agree with them, specifically the first and fourth.

I find Byakuya to generally be an inspiring character, the way he thinks is quite admirable... just he seems to lack empathy, if he learnt that I think he'd be a perfect character.

Misamee Yeah, I feel the same way. Also, considering he was brought up as part of an incredibly rich, powerful and harsh family of businessmen, I feel as though he would have been taught/brought up on the idea that emotions and empathy obstruct success and professionalism, obviously things his family feel are of more worth that people considering he had to battle his siblings. The children of the head of the company are almost presented as if they are being used as tools to further the company's success. Furthermore, their actual lives do not matter to the head. Since the advancement of the company is the only reason for them to live, they need only know about business; teaching them of the meanings of emotion and how widely impactful they are on one's actions is not a necessity. It becomes obvious that Byakuya does not understand the impact of emotion in Sakura's trial, Kirigiri even said so herself.

I very much agree, I have know a few children of borderline powerful families and they do have a different air about them. I think Byakuya was most likely brought up as a Machiavellian, where kindness obstructs success. Although I feel like the poor boy needs to learn more emotion, as cruel as it sounds feeling empathy can be an advantage, one can understand humans more and know how to manipulate them. I believe that would go right up his alley when it comes to handling people around him.
