I burn 4-6 cord a year...usually. Looking like an 8 cord winter honestly. Fire wood Permits just came out because it was bone dry and now it’s snowing which is not normal. The snow is below 2000ft already on the WetCoast. I only have 2cord so I’m short already. Most of the wood left behind by the loggers is under 10” diameter and stuck in a haystack so it’s a lot of work to fill a long box truck...

Companies like Weyerhaeuser offer a free use permit but you must sign a waiver to go cutting waste wood on their cut block and if you damage a planted tree you could get a hefty fine.

@@SVOceanBird the nice thing about 10in and under wood is you dont need to split any of it ..if it fits in the door of the stove then its good to go ..rounds burn longer than split wood does anyway

I so enjoy watching your videos, I've shown a few to my 82 year old patient I care for. His Father and grandfather did this when His family lived in the State of Washington, when he was a boy. He did the trade also then moved east. He saw you bucking the trees, and said the most dangerous part of this job. His Dad's best friend was killed by a log that jumped and they all moved. He wants to see more of your channel and is so impressed by your ability, to direct the falls with precision. Stay safe and your 592 is impressive, Walkerized.

Your Chainsaw is like an extension of your arms, like the hockey stick of Sidney Crosby. Fast furious and deadly accurate. Really enjoy watching the action and the scenery. Cannot imagine anyone cutting faster than you and still being safe, if there were only tourist tours of heli-logging 0perations some people would really enjoy being right up close.

I used to log in Maine what we thought was big Pine and Spruce but this is unbelievable; the trees you cut at that terrain is awesome. You have fantastic strength and stamina. We did cut wood all kinds in winter sometimes below zero but what you do is awe inspiring!

sketchy freakin snags. i have had them break in two halfway up where the top half came back and fell right over the stump..its like the wood was not strong enough to take the acceleration of the tree falling. Then you have to put on the scoot boots!

Hi Keith thanks for watching. The most dangerous/close calls were mostly bucking. You gotta look for potential chain reactions and logs under pressure. I’ve dodged a few broken tops too. Those were close ones. The rest were a variety of fluke things that almost got me. Can’t see everything all the time so always gotta aware of the unexpected, that means run for your life on a seconds notice 🤷‍♂️

If it’s real bad and your new to a company then you could be fired. If you’ve been with the crew long enough to have had good audits in the past, then it’s a warning. Your allowed to have one in ten stumps a fail because we’re only human and getting safely from a tree is more important than a nice looking stump. But there’s other and arguable more important things than just the stump. Like escape routes, bucking, is the wood layed out properly, snags felled when safe to do so, etc

Very nice music Ms. Vandaele, you continue to impress me with your talent.. I use Samsung's latest, so I know how good the quality is that I've seen. Is that if the iPhone that much better, or are you able to improve the picture quality equally as well or the S22's are maybe better put the last two or so releases of their high end phones as you do with iPhone. Just my curious nature about such things, and I never owned or used anything mobile they make, and so I wonder if it's all just hype as to the major difference between the two different approaches to the same technology. Ran into a black bear one time and he didn’t seem too bothered by the saw, that was a bit worrisome when a large animal isn’t scared of the loud chainsaw. I didn’t see him after I dropped the first tree though

Good morning, what do you have your rakers at. On 3/8 round hand file mine are at 35 thousandths, I just started square grinding with a grinder and I got those at 45. Stihl rs chain

I use a raker gauge but on a new chain I free hand the first bit. So when I need to file the rakers on a new chain I’ll do 1 light stroke each then do a test cut and do another light stroke till I like it. At about 1/3 to 1/2 of the chain then I’ll use the gauge. If I’m in tough hemlock then I may use the gauge sooner. So ya I just wing it 🤷‍♂️

Everything merchantable left behind is added up by the government and the logger can end up loosing their shirt if he’s not diligent. Fines can be in the millions for accidentally going outside the cut block lines so you take your time.

Do you, by any chance, know if there are always long commutes or logging camps over the summer? Because i am wondering if it is possible to have a family and wife with this kind of job

Camp work is 2weeks on and 1 off. Or 10 and 4 days. Sometimes you can do 1 week shifts. Depends on who you work for and other factors. Town work means your home every night or in A town just not the one you live in

Hey Bjarne I recall in one of your videos you had a trick for dealing with a stuck throttle cable in the field, what is it? Had that falling in the block few weeks ago. Something with an elastic or something 🧐

Ya I used a rubber band and wrapped it from where the cable connects to the carb then around the air filter to the other side of the carb. I think I wrapped it around the bubble. The rubber band pulls the throttle linkage back to neutral position. It’s a little harder to pull on the trigger but at least it will come back down to idle. Should get a few days with that at most, at least the rest of the day though
