Thanks for this, looks like Chineseium quality from SGS, think I'll spend more and buy a proper jack.

Got some Halfords ones mate to replace these. So far so good. They get them made by Sealy apparently which is reassuring. Mine are 3 TONNE LOW Provlfile Halfords advanced and offer better value for money in terms of quality and features and they are also cheaper than these crap SGS jacks. SGS are also vile to deal with when you report a problem or try and get a refund.

Was going to buy one of these, NOT now. Think I will just go for the Halfords one as they have a 3 year warranty. And at least if you get a problem you can just walk back in the shop with it.

If you use as instructed, all will be fine, my SGS has been great. I would never just use a jack, working in isolation. Jack stands help...

After seeing the video, SGS agreed they were faulty, and refunded them. They are rubbish. My current jacks work perfectly with the same method. I was working with my Dad, I had two SGS Jack's on the go, and axle stands under the car.

It's a knuckle joint to the ram just lower the handle so it's straighter and turn it my sgs jack is a bitch too if you try to do it with the handle upright just like my socket set knuckles don't work at 90° either.

This has happened to mine. Currently corresponding with SGS. Did you get a refund?

Yes mate, took them ages. Really awful company to deal with. Good luck.

My SGS Jack is the same, despite being checked/repaired under their warranty Several times I’ve had to twist the handle so hard that it’s been impossible to lower the Jack safely and slowly, instead the vehicle has just crashed to the ground. Very scary and now have zero confidence in using it

Shame they are still selling the same poor quality rubbish products, putting their customers and their cars at risk of injury / damage etc. Hence why this video is up for people to see. The fact that they are dreadfully rude and abnoxious to deal with as a company further justifies the video staying up too. Id look at doing a charge back through your bank if possible if they aren't playing ball. Good luck 👍🏼

Did you ever get this fixed? I've got the same jack and it can be a little stiff to lower but it does do it just not in a very controlled way sometimes

No mate, unfortunately not. Sent both faulty jacks back to SGS - They were very difficult to deal with; unhelpful, unprofessional and rude. Complete sh*thouses if you ask me. I'd send yours back before the problem worsens. Halfords do better quality jacks for less, which come with lifetime warranties too I believe. Cheers.

Its the angle of the gear/uj for the valve , you shouldn’t have the handle at 90 degrees

Believe me, we tried all that... zilch!

You shouldn’t max out any jack

And this is NOT marked out. Plenty other people with the same problem.

I think you over jacked it

Nah, you could try and let it down at half the height, but the only way was up... until it would eventually crash down. Just shit jacks, made by a shit company. AVOID.
