I love watching these fails. They remind me of how easily things can go wrong, and it keeps me sharp. Thanks for the learning, and entertaining video. Keep it up 💪

You might not have noticed but the guy who hits the shed had another saw caught in the face cut that drops free right at the end. 11:29

13:18. I’ve gotta disagree with you on this one. The problem was not lack of tension on the rope, it was a poor cut. I always tell new guys, “The rope is just to get the tree moving in the right direction…but once it’s moving the rope isn’t doing the work, your cut (good or bad) is controlling the fall”. In this clip you can see the tree starts to move, and then there is a little stutter (I’m guessing due to a bypass in the undercut or part of the hinge was cut off) before it finishes falling. This tree is big enough that a rope, whether powered by man or machine, wasn’t going to change its direction once it started going. Make good undercuts and hinges everybody!
@shawntailor5485Ай бұрын
I concour ! The tree will follow the face for the most part . A cutter in place couldve saved the day by cutting a hinge wich is dangerous as hell .
@brandonsteiner190Ай бұрын
It may not have been by pass either. It looks to be a super tight notch like under 30° so once that notch closed all the tension on the hinge broke the tree free from the stump and gravity did its thing. An open face notch MAY have prevented it, hard to say for sure without being there
@johns3106Ай бұрын
@ Yup…that could be. Difficult to say just what it was, but something was definitely not right about that undercut.

My bosses uncle was the first Bonifide tree service in existence . We never took shame in erring on the side of safety . 36 years ,it was an interesting career. THANKLESS ,DANGEROUS, WET COLD AND ADRENALINE ENCOURAGEMING . ROCK GEAR WASNT USED WHEN I STARTED ,NOW ITS CONSIDERED STATE OF THE ART.

Gee, most of these guys don't have a single piece of protective equipment... Just in that, they're asking for trouble. not even earmuffs. Love your video. It's helpful to have an expert's view in the aftermath. I'm always taking precautions, but with this much raw power, terrible things can happen. Most of these situations, call the pros, or a bulldozer/backhoe at the least.
@WoodRoyTVАй бұрын
Totally agree
@mrcryptozoic817Ай бұрын
Not having earmuffs can be a huge problem. I (at least) can't think clearly with all that racket of the saw, whether chainsaw or table saw. The only people not bothered by the noise are those who can't actually hear.
@shawntailor5485Ай бұрын
Some of us were the ones that developed that gear , all you needed was a saw and brass balls when i started . Make it to that first branch 85 ft up on a 180 ft fir and " your a tree man son " . ..... stay in school kids !
@Brian-OutdoorsАй бұрын
8:13 I think for sure the guy should have been on the upper ground not where the tree would roll to be safe was the real lesson here.

Those last dudes need to brush up on their physics knowledge. The thought of trying to lower a huge log 1 to 1 ratio is insane and im new to the game lol
@craighellberg4366Ай бұрын
It would be better if the screen showing the tree cutting fails was full and you just did the voice without being in the video. just a suggestion.

Not of even joking here, but I had to yell at an older woman to stop picking up sticks while I was felling a massive thorny locust tree with huge 3" to 4" long thorns. I had to yell that I was not going to be responsible for her injury or death. It amazes me what some people do nowadays! And this was a green tree that I was felling, so it was very heavy and extremely dense in weight.
@shawntailor5485Ай бұрын
Oh the ones i love are the dumbies that walk right through your caution tape and NEVER think.of looking up ! While i was ground man id give em a quick piece of informative saw talk . Sometimes sign language . I had no tollerance for idiots in a dangerous environment, not in tree service ,not in the army ,not on my watch .
@AverageHouseHusbandАй бұрын
The guy hanging out over the service drop with the limb appears to be trying to fix a mistake. I bet they were rigging that out when it caught on the cable and didn't have the rigging set up to lift it.

Not that big of a piece. Climb to the point of friction and pull it up like a man.
@kenbrown2808Ай бұрын
that was my interpretation, too. the branch he cut off looked like it was hanging up on the line.
@TimberTrainerАй бұрын
I agree, and have been there myself. There are always better ways to do it, but sometimes the pole saw isn't available.
@kenbrown2808Ай бұрын
it looked to me like the guy who got hit by the log kicking into him, had his helper still pulling after the log hit the ground - still good to get clear, but I think there was more than one mistake in that clip.

The peeler: Would it not have been better to have a deeper face cut instead of saying he should have followed through with the back cut? Less chance of a peel if more wood on that side I would think. Does that make sense?
