Well, there are 3M masks that filter the organic vapors. I agree that these should be handled with care. However, given how quickly it works (relative to using polishing compound), I think it justifies the protection effort. The instruction says spacious. As long as there is no direct wind to the vapor outlet, ;the room can still be well ventilated. So it's ok.

This is inaccurate information. The liquid contains acetone (like in nail polish remover) and other commonly available chemicals. Do you think they'd let you order jars of chloroform on Amazon and eBay? Acetone can dissolve polycarbonate, which is what most "plastic" headlights are made of nowadays, which is how that vapor works.

One to two years max Put a ceramic coating with UV protection on it Also use industrial grade acetone Not nail polish remover Has all kinds of crap in it
@boots7859 Жыл бұрын
WTF do you mean by longevity? You're sanding polycarb and resurfacing with a solvent. There is no longer any UV protectant, so its going to be 6 months at the worst, to 1-2 years before you have to do it again. Get some Chemical Guys Jet Seal that will work on headlights over some 2K that won't, and you're good for a year. Then clean your headlights, and reaply with a microfiber towel and you're good for another year. Cermic coatings are good for 6 months, who's really going to remember or want to do that twice a year?
@July-A7 Жыл бұрын
@@boots7859spray 2k lacquer and it'll be good for 10 years or even longer. I did it 6 years ago. Sanded, polished, cleaned, sprayed lacquer, sanded again and polished. Still good as brand new.

Suggesting clearcoat its dumbest idea of all, not only also makes horrible fumes, its hard to apply and easy to mess up, but in a few weeks with the heat of the light, it will yellow out, not to mention it will most likely start coming off after a few months, just buff it after the sanding and then wax it every now and then.
@99sports642 жыл бұрын
Old comment but Using a 2k clear is perfectly fine for this. 2k clear is very heat and UV resistant, it will NOT peel or yellow over time if your using the right product, and your application is good. Do some research, this is probably the most comprehensive longest lasting option.

Mate, you're clueless. Sand headlights to a haze, use acetone instead of that dodgy chloroform. Acetone is nail polish remover. Acetone is a metabolite of alcohol in liver :). So no, it's not great, but not as bad as you think. There are plenty of videos out there on how to do it. Good point not to use any blue liquid in a bottle for that, but acetone is okay-ish to use, minus the risk of torching ur car.
