Very sad, Alfred. As content creators, we hate when this happens in front of the camera. Filming and editing it is hard and it impacts our emotions as well. Countless accidents have happened in Haulover so far this year. Another life lost. Sending my prayers to the family.

I understand your feeling Brother! You were very respectful. You didn’t make light of it. You didn’t try to zoom in on the person (I don’t know if you could have or not, but you didn’t). You brought awareness to a very important danger that people either don’t know about or they get complacent about. The gentleman who stopped and spoke with you was a chill dude and also brought up some important information about the water. That lady from New York was a bit rude to me, but that could just be me. Years ago a mobile home a few houses down from my property burned down in the middle of the night. I was one of the first to get out there. I was live streaming it on FB; but by the time I got there, the fire fighters were bringing a body out. I killed the livestream because I was right next to the ambulance and first responders. They never asked me to move or stop recording, but one of the fire captains noticed I didn’t have my phone up anymore. Once the ambulance left, I started recording again. There were people getting upset online that I stopped recording the moment I saw the firefighters carrying the body. They were saying I should have continued recording so they could hear the talking, but just not show the ambulance. After everything was done, the captain came over to me as I was walking home and thanked me for being respectful. The next day, a family member reached out to me and also thanked me for being respectful, but they also thanked me for recording what I did because everything happened so fast, they really had no idea of what the fire looked like from the outside. Basically, the mom’s son had been visiting from out of state to see his newborn brother and was supposed to go home the morning of the fire. The fire started in the shed next to the trailer. The son noticed the fire and woke everyone up. The fire was spreading so fast the family was only able to make it to the parents bedroom window. The husband was helping his wife out while the son was getting his sister and grandma out of their rooms and leading them to the window. The dad was trying to find the crib while the son got his sister and grandma out. The dad was over come by the smoke, so the son helped get him out and didn’t know his stepdad didn’t get the baby out of the crib. The son went back in for his brother, passed him out the window, and then he was overcome by the smoke and died just inside the window. A couple of local news stations reached out to me because I had the only source of video of the fire. By the time the local channels got there, the fire was already out and there was only one engine left on scene for hot spots. It was in the middle of fire season and they wanted to use my footage because any fire footage is gold for their ratings. I asked the family first and they said they didn’t mind. Edit: I have no idea why I shared all of that. I guess I was just caught up in the moment and that all just came back to me.

Thanks for always emphasizing safety Alfred - my first trip to the beach we took out a small sailboat at dusk and sank it, spent the night treading water while watching the helicopters doing search patterns - we got lucky but learned a huge lesson, the ocean is an extremely powerful force of nature and not respecting her will kill you fast. Stay safe out there, enjoy your holiday and give everyone in your family an extra hug!

I wish more people were aware of the oceans dangers. If you are not a good swimmer, and don't have much stamina, STAY AWAY FROM THE OCEAN! It's a dangerous place, and those who are not familiar with the possibilities once you're in the water, should be at the most ankle deep. Thanks for the vlog Alfred as this may save someone's life if they see it. People will be more aware of the dangers present at the beach. 👍✌ P.S. If you get caught in a current, let it take you calmly, and swim to the side to escape it. That's your best chance. Currents are normally about 80 feet wide, you can escape them, and swim back to shore if you realize this, and don't panic. Hope this helps someone. I don't think currents had anything to do with this tragic death, but I post it for those who aren't aware how to handle getting pulled out to sea. ✌

Really sad 😔. Didn't expect such a situation ... Always so positive videos ... It reminds if there's a nice beach, sunny day, all to enjoy but the ocean is real nature power! Unforgiving and merciless! I had several times similar experience with people drowned or rescued in the very last minute. Most were tourists totally unaware which power tides and current can have. Personally I helped 7 to 8 people to get out ... Always monitor the ocean for a day or two before you jump in like crazy!

@Rico Baca I hope you'll read and consider this with the tone in which it was written, a respectful offer of perspective, and not an "attack" (way, WAY too much of that these days in my opinion) Think about this for more than a minute: You have NEVER...EVER seen an image (or video) of a tragic moment...That wasn't "monetized". If it ran in a newspaper, magazine, TV, or website it was "monetized" in one form or another. Tragic moments happen THOUSAND of times EVERY day around the world. Pick ANY war back to the Civil War, the Hindenberg, the Kennedy/King assasinations, Challenger, Columbia, 9/11, 1/6...I can go on and on and on. Two I have NEVER forgotten (and the were "front page" around the world): Father Mychal Judge being carried away from the World Trade Center and 1 yr old Baylee Almon being cradled by a firefighter at the OKC bombing. ALL paid for by advertising and/or subscribers that made sharing those moments with a world of people who wanted to know "what happened" possible. And while I suppose in this and ALL those other instances, the information could have been presented in an inappropriate and disrespectful way...Alfred didn't do that. He reported what he saw, as it happened, and as he saw it...With respect. The viewer (including the family) always has the choice to look away, but that doesn't change the fact that those moments happened, were experienced by others, and can be learned from. Alfred, you did absolutely nothing wrong. I know from personal experience it wasn't easy. While you started your day looking to entertain, you ended up doing serious journalism, and you did it pretty well.

Somebody called it. The rescue was in the rocks, so my guess is that there was severe trauma to the upper body and there was no way to resuscitate. There was no attempt to blow in air to the lungs.
