If you have one rig that has the rock drill upgrade or the speed upgrade and you connect its pipes to another ones pipe underground the other rig will get the upgrades too. It will save you some money when you have lots of rocks in the ground and spread out oil pockets.

If you think you're out of oil like 3 or 4 months before it ends, you may as well just pause and end the season early for extra money. Also you can always shut the oil well off if you're going to spill. Also you can avoid those spills by *not* automatically upgrading the pipes fully as soon as you get the chance. =P
