I'm just some backwoods woodworker in Alabama, USA, and this music just does something to me, like it's calling me or something, hard to explain but it's almost all I listen to now. Skald, Danheim, Wardruna etc. This reminds me of somewhere I long to be, where I feel I've never really been............. home............

There is no life... without death. Through death, we embrace our fleeting life. There are few sounds you can hear, recall through memory. A birds song, a trickling river, the creaking of wood as they sway in the winds. The sound of thunder, and rain as it pours onto the earth. I can still hear it... the sounds of heavy breathing, muddy stomps and clanging of metal upon metal as we stormed the unsuspecting village. Our breath easily visible from the chilly winter air. Unless you have lived the warrior's life, you simply could never fathom the memories, the sounds, the feelings I, or any of my brothers carry within ourselves.

Is it just me who shivers and cries when listening to Danheim, Gealdýr, Wardruna, Eivør, Garmarna, Jonna Jinton, Heilung, Skáld and Jon Henrik Fjällgren? I feel immense waves of homesickness even though I'm Swedish and live in Sweden. I wish I could go back in time to meet my forefathers. Be they slaves or free men, I would love to dine with them.

Found this by accident the other day. Best. Accident. Ever. Had it blasting on my Harley on the way home from work, fastest commute I have had in years cuz no one wanted to get in the way of the angry looking bearded dude throwing the horns and headbanging to this at 90MPH.

As a near 100% ethnic Norwegian there is nowhere I feel more at home in my ancestral region. Haugalandet in Norway. The place of my forefathers and the ones before them. Hills, forests, mountains, fjords and sea. All of it meets. Avaldsnes is where I spent the first few years before we moved but a stonesthrow away. A region of importance to the vikings. I am nowhere as hardy as my ancestors. One has but to look back at my grandfather to see that. However I am of their blood and like them I call the very same soil they stepped on home.

Мi. ЕW 286; Брюкнер 471; Преобр. II, 229."
