After listening this song at least twice per day for a whole week I really want to say how impressed I am with this piece. It opened up with a rush, and almost felt like an intense chase scene- the hard rhythmic tribal beats really added to that feel, and the aethetics of the panning, blurry forests helped out a lot to that feel. I love how during all of the intense build up it's both powerful but also vague, dark but unfathomable. And then something changes, and the initial alien feel became something that's almost familiar. When the last 1/3 of the track hits at 3:27 it splays out in an almost regal and very confident fashion, and suddenly the track was blessed with a strong sense of clarity and the familiarity I mentioned. Fully doing it's own thing and glorious. Just for a brief but perfect while. And then by the last moments it dissipates, and that familiar majesty fades, dissapears backs to the forests and the ancient mysteries. And you are left with a bittersweet but wholesome feeling that you were just in touch with something sublime. Dark but true to itself, and you were pleasant enough to witness it. As if through the chaos Valhalla itself offered a glimpse of the colorful glories then drift off and you are in the forest again. When people ask me what is me what is a good example of music as narrative, I'd happy to point to this piece and Skjoldborg. Strong build up, strong contrasts, and at the same time a well controlled plotting that feels like a good story told in music form. Yep, I'll be listening to this one for months. 💖

On a meta-level, it's like the shaman is inducing a long and powerful prayer, sinks deeper and deeper into a dark trance, only to be blessed with a vision of the glorious in familiar clarity. Then it dissipates.

A bit of that reminds me of Heilung, in a very good way. I sang along to Heilung a lot, and now I am able to chant the entire Elder Futhark in one single breath. These runes are a little harder to follow than theirs, but that’s no bad thing. I love this song a lot. Very unique. And now I just can’t wait till Vígrídr, that song I named haha. Each new Danheim song I see pop up in my feed, and my heart skips a beat, wondering if it’s the one. Even though it hasn’t been (yet), I am not at all disappointed! On that note, never stop. No other music gives me quite the High yours does, and few other bands have songs that are as trance-inducing and easy to meditate to as some of your pieces. Greetings and support from Canada 🇨🇦✌️
@timothyhadrian71876 жыл бұрын
Cannot agree with you more on that note. Sounds almost exactly like Heillung

I agree.. similar to Heilung and but with almost a electronic music beat/feel to it. I'm hooked!
@kenetmendoza21576 жыл бұрын
Hey! How do you manage to sing it? I don't know exactly how to pronunciate it. Do you do it by ear, while you read the "lyrics"? I would be very excited if I was able to sing this.
@davethiessen33726 жыл бұрын
Kenet Mendoza hey! I personally just know the Elder Futhark runes, as I memorized them as a child when I wanted to be able to write stuff in Norse Runes haha. I recognized them in Heilung’s song “In Maidjan”, which I would suggest checking out if you were interested in what I am talking about. The rune chant in Danheim is very interesting, but I cannot yet follow it. Anyways, the runes go as follows: Fehu Uruz Thurizaz Ansuz Raido Kenaz Gebo Wunjo Hagall Nauthiz Isa Jera Eiwaz Perthro Algiz Sowelu Tiwaz Berkano Ehwaz Mannaz Laguz Ingwaz Dagaz Othala
