I'm grateful for this lesson about going into the firey funace in order to follow the Savior. I'm in one of those senerios right now in my life. I have worked for a company for 40 years. I purposely didn't work on the sabbath day. My boss came and demanded that I work a Sunday shift each week. I told him that I couldn't do that. I wasn't willing to put my spiritual life in jeopardy just to keep my job. So I told them I would quit my job so I didn't have to work Sunday. So I did. Now I'm hoping that the Lord will bless me for making this decision

T&T Brothers & Clint Mortensen, What a power packed hour and half of not only pulling out Doctrine/Principles but having Clint FOCUS us on "The Learning Process" I haven't seen the Venn Diagram since my CES days but a wonderful review. Having us FOCUS on the Learner/needs as a starting point THEN FOCUS on Him, will invite the Spirit to teach and edify. I think too many of us as teachers rush to cover ALL the material that we miss the sacred Edification process !! From personal experience, Inspired questions gets the Learner to ACT. Indeed, "nothing invites the spirit more than fixing your FOCUS on the Savior" Thank you my friends!!!

Wow! The perfect lesson to all of us who are called upon to speak as part of a Sunday's meeting. As a Former Gospel Doctrine teacher, the lessons I felt best about were those that started discussion and thought-sharing within the class and frequently some would gather in small groups after class to continue the discussion. I hope I can go back to this class again and again to continue to learn this style of teaching. Fantastic1111

Converts are just as important to remember in teachings like this as the youth and your own children. As a person who was a convert at the age of 30 Love is believed in God and Jesus Christ but never knew anything about scriptures, having two young boys with me to teach, seminary and these lessons and those members who teach me to teach have been an immeasurable blessing. So many would look at me like I knew as much as they did even though they knew I was a convert and I had to explain once I don't know how to look scripture up. When you tell me can I please read so and so chapter so and so verses so and so I have no idea what you're saying

I have used them in my Sunday School class with with the YSAs and I can really feel the Spirit - with the class ended with a nice closing prayer offered by one of the class members who basically repeated the gist of the lesson and was thankful for that. Wow, another amazing presentation from the CFM team. I really enjoyed this Bretheren, I ended up watching it a couple of times. This is what teaching is to me. My mom is a Sunday School teacher for their ward in Southern California. I immediately sent this video to her and told her to watch it. The counsel in this presentation is timeless, and will basically fit into any time, scenario or group. This is definitely a one size fits all approach to teaching both in the classroom and in life. I love how the spirit knows exactly what questions to ask students and with the right words. The right prompts often help individuals dig deep and express thoughts and matters of the spirit. This presentation is absolute genius and is a level up from any of the teaching approaches I have seen, or ever will see ❤️.

I am reading the BOM at the same time as the OT. So interesting to often see parallels …. One today is in Alma 10 where Amulek names his lineage by being a descendant of one Aminadi who interpreted the writing, which was upon the wall of the temple, which was written by the finger of God. Seeing that same thing in Daniel and now here in Alma makes me smile to see how often the Lord works with all of his children so similarly. Thank you again brethren for all that you do to bring light to the Scriptures!

Thank you Brother Clint Mortensen for teaching us how to create meaningful learning experiences while teaching the gospel (begins at 22:26). As taught by President Henry B. Eyring, take your students into the scriptures. Help them to liken the scriptures to themselves. For example, while teaching Daniel 1 to the youth, invite them to ponder this imaginary scenario, “You have made covenants with the Savior to keep yourself clean. Imagine you are out one night with three of your good friends. You find yourselves in a new and unfamiliar setting where you are being pressured to break your covenants. What would you do and why?” As they share their responses, listen carefully to what they would do and why they would do so. This learning exercise creates a relevancy between the experiences of the scriptural characters and what the youth are experiencing in their lives. They begin to realize that it is not just about Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. It is about them. The second teaching principle is to trust the scriptures. When learners search the scriptures, the Lord will personalize their understanding of truth to meet their individual spiritual needs. To put these two teaching principles into action, first engage them by asking the scenario-based question, listen to their responses carefully, set the context of the scriptural account (e.g., by telling them who Daniel and his friends were and how they ended up in Babylon), and then invite them to study the scriptures (Daniel 1:8-20 in this case). Ask the youth to look for things they admire about Daniel and his friends, for the blessings Daniel and his friends received, and the impressions the youth received about the choices they are trying to make in their own lives.
