Their love story is so beautiful that you don't want it to even end even after 30 years +. When Kumiko said, "There are many who tried but none fought to the death for me." It's like she said - What we had was real and I still feel the same for you because nobody can ever replace you for that. And Daniel need not say anything at all. Just that look on his face and the smile that he has all throughout the time they were together... even when he began his ride to Tomi Village, the face when he saw it changed a lot and the way he was drawn to the performers. You can see the longing, tenderness and the way he looked at her. It's just awe. Her back was on him, he's seeing only her arms and hands and as if he knew that was the reason he came to Tomi Village. His face was so very telling. She has done so much in his life in just so short of a time that he seemed to found himself again --- feeling like a whole person once more. Kumiko had always been a beam of light and a burst of positivity to Daniel. When everything seemed to be going sideways for him... his heart brought him to Okinawa. Very telling that an important part of who he is will always be there and it will not change decades after decades. I know they are actors... but the way they own the characters they are playing is just so perfect. I so loved Daniel till now!

I am totally amazed that so many people remember these two in Karate Kid 2. I always thought they should have been together from the first time they saw each other. I am a romantic at heart and have always had a special place for these two characters. While I haven't seen the series, I found these videos and I can truly see her continuing to be part of the series. It would be nice to finally see them together. I just so loved these two. The way she told him that no one fought to death for her… is just a very beautiful way of saying - what we had was real and I love you still! And for Daniel’s part… he doesn’t have to say anything at all..,you just have to look at his eyes + smile all throughout the time she’s present. The devastation his face showed when he saw Tomi Village changed. The longing is there… you can almost feel the heartbeat and wishing she was the lady dancing with the kids. He just saw her back… and he knew those hands… And his reaction was pure joy and love when he saw her face. And when everything seemed to go sideways for him… at his lowest times… he went to Okinawa. Just telling how at the back of his mind (and heart) all these years, he left a big part of him in Okinawa. In such a brief time… Kumiko did so many things for Daniel that seemed to patch so much of what he’s missing. She’s always that beam of light and positivity to him. Who does that? Theirs is a beautiful story. Could be the one that got away… I hope their story doesn’t end here.

Glad I’m not the only one, the scenes with Daniel and Kumiko I was losing i know there actors. But man the chemistry, when Kumiko replied to Daniel when he asked how many people tried to get a ring on her finger? Her response of “many had tried, but none of them fought to the death for me” I was just smiling It was sweet it also further conveys that Kumiko never stopped loving Daniel. I could even see that Daniel was starting to fall in love with her again. Season 4 is already confirmed to have the return of Terry Silver and possibly Mike Barnes if anything I hope the same thing that Season 4 will return Kumiko and Chozen. But for what purpose I don’t know Chozen maybe could help train Daniel and Johnny’s students but I don’t know what Kumikos role would be

Exactly I agree and maybe Kumiko comes along with Chozen too cause she would want to meet and see Daniel's family, his kids and mum as well. Remember in S3 Ep4 when she was reading Mr Miyagi's last letter he mentioned Daniel's daughter Samantha. It would be nice to see Kumiko in s4 tho and it would interesting to see her interacting with Daniel's family and wife. Who knows..some family drama could happen also with Daniel having conflicted emotions..could make things interesting since he's a family man and all. Kumiko who achieved her dream and travelled around the world dancing, I'm sure she would want to come to America to visit Daniel since he came back to Okinawa.

But Daniel when he came back to Okinawa he was already married to Amanda maybe the writers thought it wouldn't be right for him to say that cause maybe he was probs already thinking it as well. I think Daniel sees Kumiko as the one who got away for sure

Their love story was so beautiful. In my opinion she was his first love. Ali was kind of like a puppy love, crush type of love. But Kumiko was Daniel's first real love. 'The one that got away' It means that there was someone who, in hindsight, we regret not being with because when we look [back] we feel that they may have truly been 'the one' for us that we might want to have known better - or maybe even realize that they were potentially the one you might very well want to spend the rest of your life with. That I believe Kumiko was the one that got away for Daniel. Kumiko was Daniel's true love. And Daniel was Kumiko's one true love as she never ever married.
