It states that my Great Great Grandfather was Daniel Boone's scout,Daniel Green. He said that Daniel Green was his best scout. On one of his scouting trips with another man, they were attacked by a bear. When the bear clawed his face and he and the bear rolled down into a deep gully,he killed it with his knife. But he had lost an arm, bleeding he went to the camp site and found items to dress his wounds. His friend made it back to the settlement and told them that he was dead.Weeks later my grandfather made it back to the settlement.

But in my story, Daniel Boone after hearing the story from the man who left him--He went out looking for the man, Green (my ancestor) and found him alive and that he had indeed killed the bear and saved himself but was weak & Daniel had brought him back to the camp.

Boone always claimed his birthday to be October 22, 1734, which it actually was according to the "old calendar." He didn't abide the change to the new calendar changing his actual birth date, as many didn't at the time. (In the American colonies, where they were a little late in coming around to the new calendar, they added 11 days to get in sync. In Europe, because they accepted it years earlier, they only had to add 10 days.) Also, the Battle of Blue Licks, where Boone lost his youngest son, Israel -- shot through the neck -- happened much later than the Siege of Boonesborough. Blue Licks was August 1782. The Siege of Boonesborough was in 1778.

The town of Wilsonville in Oregon was originally called Boone’s Landing because of of Boone’s Ferry operated by Daniel Boone’s grandson and great grandson Alphonso and Jesse Boone. The they both went to the California gold fields where the elder died. The younger came back to Oregon and operated the ferry and Blazed Boone’s Ferry Road from to Salem to Portland. He was eventually murdered by his neighbor as he was at his ferry on the South Bank of the Willamette River. His neighbor said Boone had been killing his sheep, but the rest of the town said that wolves had killed the sheep and not Boone. The ferry remained in operation until It was replaced by Boone Bridge, and Interstate 5 in 1956 if I recall correctly. Several of Boone’s decedents made one last trip on the Ferry before it shut down. Boone’s Ferry Park sits on the north bank side of the river where the ferry was.

I own and live in the oldest home still standing in my hometown of Havre, Montana. It's the picture I use for my avi. The original owner was a man named Daniel Boone, who was originally from Roanoke, Virginia. He came to Havre in 1897 and lived here with is wife, Elizabeth Price Boone, until about 1926. They moved to Evanston, Illinois, where they built a beautiful white Colonial Revival style home and lived there until their deaths; Mr. Boone in 1946 and Mrs. Boone in 1971. Mr. Boone's obituary states he was a "distant relative" of the real Daniel Boone, with the younger's great-great grandfather being Daniel Boone's cousin. So...there's my "claim to fame", that I live in Daniel Boone's house, LOL! BTW, if anyone has any information on "my" Daniel Boone and his wife, Elizabeth Price Boone, originally from Roanoke, Virginia and Evanston, Illinois, please let me know!
