We visited the Nathan Boone home in Ashville Missouri and the Jesse Boone home in Weston Missouri. Several of my Families have visited the Daniel Boone homes. Lots of history in my Family.

My Grandfather,Daniel Greene told stories to our family about his Grandfather being Daniel Boone's scout. The information can be found found in Daniel Boone's letters. It states that my Great Great Grandfather was Daniel Boone's scout,Daniel Green. He said that Daniel Green was his best scout. On one of his scouting trips with another man, they were attacked by a bear. When the bear clawed his face and he and the bear rolled down into a deep gully,he killed it with his knife. But he had lost an arm, bleeding he went to the camp site and found items to dress his wounds. His friend made it back to the settlement and told them that he was dead.Weeks later my grandfather made it back to the settlement.

That very much sounds like the story I found in doing research on my family ancestors. My ancestor went through the same thing and his last name was Green. I can't remember the first name--but have it somewhere in my research. Amazing !!!!! I think they are one in the same. But in my story, Daniel Boone after hearing the story from the man who left him--He went out looking for the man, Green (my ancestor) and found him alive and that he had indeed killed the bear and saved himself but was weak & Daniel had brought him back to the camp.

I lived on a road named rebels creek near spruce pine nc. 15 miles from town off if 80 north. The little Glade,no development, with the creek was named by Daniel who watered his horse named rebel was where I spent time contemplating when would Daniel show up.

One of my ancestors crossed over the Cumberland Gap with Daniel Boone. Another one got malled by a bear & his friend left him for dead, went home & told Boone about it. Boone went back out looking for the man. He had lived barely & dragged himself under a house eating worms & whatever he could find. Boone got him home. The only reason I know this stuff is because I do genealogy research for my family.

Boone always claimed his birthday to be October 22, 1734, which it actually was according to the "old calendar." He didn't abide the change to the new calendar changing his actual birth date, as many didn't at the time. (In the American colonies, where they were a little late in coming around to the new calendar, they added 11 days to get in sync. In Europe, because they accepted it years earlier, they only had to add 10 days.) Also, the Battle of Blue Licks, where Boone lost his youngest son, Israel -- shot through the neck -- happened much later than the Siege of Boonesborough. Blue Licks was August 1782. The Siege of Boonesborough was in 1778.

The town of Wilsonville in Oregon was originally called Boone’s Landing because of of Boone’s Ferry operated by Daniel Boone’s grandson and great grandson Alphonso and Jesse Boone. The they both went to the California gold fields where the elder died. The younger came back to Oregon and operated the ferry and Blazed Boone’s Ferry Road from to Salem to Portland. He was eventually murdered by his neighbor as he was at his ferry on the South Bank of the Willamette River. His neighbor said Boone had been killing his sheep, but the rest of the town said that wolves had killed the sheep and not Boone. The ferry remained in operation until It was replaced by Boone Bridge, and Interstate 5 in 1956 if I recall correctly. Several of Boone’s decedents made one last trip on the Ferry before it shut down. Boone’s Ferry Park sits on the north bank side of the river where the ferry was.

I own and live in the oldest home still standing in my hometown of Havre, Montana. It's the picture I use for my avi. The original owner was a man named Daniel Boone, who was originally from Roanoke, Virginia. He came to Havre in 1897 and lived here with is wife, Elizabeth Price Boone, until about 1926. They moved to Evanston, Illinois, where they built a beautiful white Colonial Revival style home and lived there until their deaths; Mr. Boone in 1946 and Mrs. Boone in 1971. Mr. Boone's obituary states he was a "distant relative" of the real Daniel Boone, with the younger's great-great grandfather being Daniel Boone's cousin. So...there's my "claim to fame", that I live in Daniel Boone's house, LOL! BTW, if anyone has any information on "my" Daniel Boone and his wife, Elizabeth Price Boone, originally from Roanoke, Virginia and Evanston, Illinois, please let me know!

I am going to guess you are kinfolk of Mr. Boone's. I have a book titled 'Daniel Boone and the Hunters of Kentucky" published in 1870, written by W. H. Bogart. Never had the time to read it (464 pages). Will find the time now. Hope this finds you well.

I basically spent my childhood at this home until '58. This was Daniel's son Nathan's as he had come ahead and built it. Nathan's sister and my grandmother Susanna was across the road. This house is where grandfather passed and was buried next to grandma Becky. They were moved to Frankfort as an honor, but it wasn't. Daniel did not have a good memory of Kentucky.

We like to lionize Boone, but the fact is that he moved his family to the frontier and left his wife to raise his children largely by herself. She was surrounded by hostile natives, and she and her children had to survive without Daniel’s presence most of the time. For years he returned home only long enough to impregnate his wife again. Daniel is not the hero, his wife is.

Not as it stands now. The only remaining portion is the springhouse foundation below the left side of the building.

Many people did throughout all of history and even though it is horrific it is still history and is there so we never make the same mistake twice. It is there to learn from.

We forget about the women behind the men during that time. Rebecca Boone gave birth to ten children. She raised them mostly alone because Daniel was gone a lot. Home long enough to impregnate her, then off again.

Probably. But Rebecca Bryan Boone, his wife, was an ancestor of my wife's mother. Boone also blazed a trail West from my hometown, where some of Rebecca's family lived.
