Daniel Dubois Is Risking His Career Against Filip Hrgovic

In this video I give my take on the upcoming fight between Daniel Dynamite Dubois and Filip El Animal Hrgovic taking place June 1st on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev vs Dimitry Bivol. I discuss why this is a risky fight for both men but especially for Dubois who does not want to go 0-3 against top tier opponents.

Your odviously a casual. This is Not a risk for Hrgovic!! Its An easy fight , againts another hypejob in Dubois. The chisora comparison makes no sense, chisora gave Klitchko a good 12 rounds, and beat Helenius but didn't get the decision. Dubois pathetically quit against the only two decent fighters he's faced. He's been a pro 7 years , the same as Hrgovic. so if his not ready now he will never be ready . Dubois will quit again!!

Appreciate the comment! In my opinion it's not about how many years he has been a pro so much as what level his skills are at currently. Specifically I don't believe Don Charles is the man to develop him to his full potential and I would like to see him work with a different trainer before risking too many losses under DC.

As for experience, his boxed more rounds than Hrgovic. plus his boxed as Many rounds as Ali, Tyson, Bowe , and vitali Klitchko when they were winning world titles.

Look at Wlad K under Manny Steward, Totally different fighter even though he still arguably lacked heart. Look at AJ with Ben Davison. A great trainer can make a huge difference. Dubois didn't quit against Miller and he got rocked with plenty of big shots.

And you suggesting Ben Davidson is a Great trainer is hilarious 😂 I think everyone knows AJ would walk true Ngannou regardless of whether it was Sims, Mcracken, Garcia or James in his corner. The real secret to AJ success will be him staying busy. And yes Ofcourse any fighter can improve, but the question is how much? The Fact is Neither Wlad nor AJ ever quit like Dubois. Actually can you name, any top heavyweight who ever quit twice after a solid jab? Please Jarell miller? 😂 he was an out of shape nobody! I'm certain Dubois is useless! And I will message you back here after Hrgovic beats him , just to remind you I was right 👍 my prediction Dubois may quit by pulling out of the fight, but I think the 💵 will get him to the ring. And he will quit again, unless Hrgovic denys him the chance by knocking him spark out.

@@COMEBACKCOREY Maybe Dubois will quit, but I do think he showed heart against Miller. If anything he was too brave for his own good in that fight and came close to getting stopped but did not quit. I'm also not convinced by Hrgovic, his recent performances haven't set the world on fire either. Rumor has it this might be for the full IBF title stripped from the Usyk-Fury winner so it should be an interesting one.

Dubois is Afraid of nobody and is taking on the most dangerous fights regardless of profile or paycheck. So many fighters these days will talk the talk only to get the best fights but are running from anyone who is dangerous that might cost them that big payday. We need more fighters like Dubois.

Yeah you might be on to something. I think they've rushed this dude from day one. Warren was in such a rush to find his Anthony Joshua. They did the same thing with yarde. But Daniel is 26 And it's now or never.

I'm concerned Frank is taking the Chisora route get as many paydays as possible before the losses pile up, especially with Fury his cash cow presumably retiring in the next 5ish years. On the other hand, IF DDD can seize the opportunity it could be great for him.

He's a proper Spartan doing what he should do. Losses don't matter, just fight and beat another top 20 if you lose.

Boxers having this mindset would 100% benefit the sport. Most of the top UFC guys have multiple losses.

It's definitely going to be an interesting fight! I'm a big DDD fan and I think he has great fundamentals, which could shape him to become a champion in the next 4 years. I believe Hrgovic is a very robotic and readable fighter but I'm not sure if DDD has the boxing IQ to adjust appropriately within the ring. It is undeniable that Hrgovic has an iron chin which makes it a 50/50 in my books.

I'm really curious how Hrgovic will look compared to his last 2 outings. I wasn't super impressed with those. Personally I'm not 💯 sold on Hrgovic yet so I'm very curious to see how good he looks here. I really like DDD so I'll be rooting for him.

It's gonna be an interesting fight. FH is a big step above Miller imo, at the same time DDD did show he doesn't have to be a quitter either.

No this is boxing, if he was fighting a tin can he'd get criticised. Miller was the perfect match up for him and now he steps up, if he's good enough he'll win. Why would he turn down a world title shot when he's already fought at world level?

You might be right, it will be hard to tell for sure until a few fights down the line when we see where he has ended up. If he beats Hrgovic or is competitive in a loss then it is a risk that will pay off!

Agreed. I'm not yet convinced he is a top 5 HW. He has 1 win over Zhang (who also lost to Parker) and has otherwise not fought any top names. People MIGHT be ducking him but at the same time I haven't seen anything to suggest he definitely should be favored over Fury, Usyk or AJ.

@@Yourboyinthebunker His other problem is that he doesn't promote himself very well. I know boxing is a sport first but I do also think fighters need to make some effort with the promotion otherwise it makes it harder to get fights. Not saying that is right btw, but that is how boxing works.

Well Duboa in hiis 26y. doesn't need fight against Hrgovic, he could have chosen someone else, less dangerous, let's say remach against Joyce, or fight against Pulev, Ajagba. Filip is in his prime at age 32 and want to fight for title and Doboa 26. No reason to hurry. Point with Hrgovic is he laks fight against strong oponent where he has to fight and stayes concentrated till 12. round. It was noticable in fight against Zhang, he was lost and confused, his legs were shaking. Becouse he met dangerouse and strong opponent, he didn' t do any defence becouse in 13 profesional fight he win withouth defence. But Dubois is good fighter and match will be very exiting!

its not a good matchup for ddd....ddd chances of winning are evry slim...knocking hrgovic is not a easy task....hrgovic have good chin n he is good puncher....on his worst day he fought ok with zhang...mckean was a hugger n big guy not allowing him to ko....so cant compare like that....ddd dont have heart....miller is not a top level boxer...he took 11 rounds to finish him...that means he cant finish hrgovic in 11 rounds fore sure...hrgovic is top7 guy for sure....in my view hrgovic will lose to usyk and aj...other opponets liks of fury ruiz parker zhang all are in same level...need to be tested

I do not see any career risk here. Daniel is 26 years old and has probably another 10 years to reach his peak. I also do not see the point in ducking any opponent when you have a champion's mentality. He should be fighting only the best if we wants to achieve anything and even if he loses he will gain experience that will help in the long run.

at least you have qualified your argument but i will have to disagree... because sometimes staying too long as a prospect can also be detrimental to ones career ... look how long joe joyce stayed as a prospect and look what it got him to... people like wilder stayed too long fighting weak oppositions ... sometimes when you take your fair share of baptisms of fire early on as a young fighter not only you get to gain invaluable experience but also have an opportunity to re-invent yourself as a fighter ... perhaps even put yourself in a championship position because of the risks you take... most people don't realize how young joseph parker is ...or how old joe joyce is ... .
