Growing up half Caucasian and half Asian in any western country has it's share of difficulties and negativity. But it's great to see an individual take both aspects of his heritage and use it as a positive within in his work and career.

Sakura Moon so true. Not just in the US but in many countries. I'm not mixed race but it was hard enough sticking out like a sore thumb in the majority non-Asian suburb I grew up in so I just assimilated. It wasn't until I was older that I had a similar experience about wanting to discover my roots and started to seriously study my own cultural and linguistic heritage.

i dont understand why people call him Korean, he is Half Korean born and raised in the States. So he is really american with half Korean decent. I was born and raised in Australia, but both rents are polish, so it makes me Aussie of Polish decent.

well when my father came here to Aus at the age of 5 english being his main language he was still called a pol I know many half asians here and I ask them where u frm they say Aus, then i ask what decent they saym Korean or japanese etc but still they are AUSSIE. No matter what me being Aussie comes 1st being polish comes 2nd As for it being a shame call them Korean not where do u get that idea? My father tought me and i will teach my kids this too ......

.....If some one asks what nationality are you I always said and will teach my kids the same I am Australian of Polish dencent and in my kids case I am AUstralian of Korean polish dencet :) If it was I who were asian and my husaband white and shaired his family name eg Henny then i am sure very few would call them Korean but as my husbands name is lim and they will possibly automaticly think "asian"

.......so my family and husband and I came to a compromise and made their eng names their middle names, I asked my motherinlaw would she prefer Kor names or Eng nmes for her grand kids she didnt care either way :) As for rasim or being looked at differently it happenes to anyone and everyone regardless of race :) even though i speak decent korean im still turned away by koreans when applying for a job why because i am white and they pay 10 AUD p/h and they dont wanna risk it as they thihnk....

I said my kids WILL be i didnt say I have kids at all and yeah I have Korean names for my kids for when i do have them Hwarang Aztec Lim and Jangjeong Atlas Lim (if i have sons) and if i have daughters haebaragi Hana Lim or Jinju Sarina Lim ^^v My husband and my family all thought cuz my kids would have a Kor surname that they should have eng names cuz they are living and growing up in Aus I am the ONLY one who wants Korean names for my kids and no english names...
