It is remarkable that all you talking heads did not see the RED flag many years ago when Pat Shurmer knew he has to play a simplified, first read, divide the field in half offense BECAUSE of Jones. Shurmer deserves a lot of credit (and never has) to see what he had in Jones...which half a franchise QB who can not stay healthy. Jones is a coach killer and Daboll will probably be the NEXT victim.

Shurmer is a true offensive genius. With Daboll's track record and this being the first time DJ has a WR1, maybe he can do the same this year. But it's boom or bust.

I had a dream list night that the Giants were trailing the Vikings 14- 7 with 8 minutes left in the game. It was raining, and a 4th down corner throw to Slayton was dropped in the end zone. I mean, can't I even DREAM a win?

I 100% agree with Ed's offensive line "sum of it's parts" take .. offensive line is a unique section of football they have to play like they're one player not five individual players

I'm excited about Elijah Chatman. I saw film on him back in March and thought this guy has what it takes. Also, if he turns out to be too small to play DL, then have him drop 20 lbs and move him to Edge. If that doesn't work out, then have hims drop another 20 lbs again and play ILB. You could just tell he is a heckuva football player and I felt the team just needs to find a place for him on the roster. As it turns out he seems to be cutting as a DL. Despite being 5'11" tall, the one observation to make is that he may be short but he's not small. The dude is jacked and I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the strongest guys on the team. I'm rooting for him and I'm with Carl Banks - him running down a running back 40 yards downfield that saves a touchdown has to have him making the team. He's just an incredible diamond in the rough the Giants got as a UDFA.

If Daniel Jones suffers a torn ACL in the same knee during the Giants' final preseason game against the Jets and undergoes season-ending knee surgery for the 2nd straight year, then Jersey boy Tommy DeVito will take over as the starting quarterback in the upcoming 2024 season, while Drew Lock will be his backup.

Thank you gentlemen for putting DJ's performance in the right context. One unacceptable throw which is his first one and one absolutely unacceptable throw the pick 6. I know it's only the preseason but I want DJ to future and he can't be if he makes kind of mistakes. Come on DJ trust your line and make good decisions.

I always defended Jones because he has had no time in the pocket and no weapons. Not the case anymore. In this game, he continued to make bad decisions and still had an inability to look past his first option. He has all the physical tools but the mental part is not progressing.

So when is Jones gonna actually start a game that you guys don't have to "excuse" his starts? Its ridiculous the 2nd year man on the other team looked like a real pro, our guy looks like the rookie of the 2. Enough excuses for this dude.

i need Jones' agent. that person is a master of their craft. its not said enough: who was paying jones 40 mil other than the giants in 2023? if they hadnt signed him, does anyone think Jones would be starting for a playoff caliber team in 2024 or making anywhere near mid tier QB money? the whole darn thing screams John Mara which of course makes sense, that the giants did as they have so many times under Mara, negotiated against themselves. the whole conversation is played out at this point and anyone still clinging to the Jones isnt that bad narrative isnt wearing any fn clothes

David Carr syndrome isnt something you can snap out of, quickly or otherwise Russell Wilson has it and his career has gone way down hill. Jones has it and arguably has had it since at least 2020. They hid it well in 2022 with lots of smoke and mirrors. They tried breaking him out of it last year and it was a disaster.

Eli was always coming from behind in the 4th quarter, because the defense couldn't hold a lead, and many of his INTs came in the 4th quarter in desperation time, and they were basically like punts. As for Jones, Shurmer played a simplified one read roll out offense, that defenses eventually figured out. Jones is going to have to start using his arm and his brain more than his legs. I will give him a pass in preseason, especially because he has to get use to his new o-line. Preseason is played to get rid of the kinks, and evaluate talent.

Defenses never "figured out" what Shurmur was doing. That's why that was DJ's best year of his career as a passer with 24 TDs in 13 games .

@omega2648 Just like defenses never figured out our mobile QB Jeff Hostetler after he won us a SuperBowl? The following year, Ray Handley made his biggest blunder by making him our QB....Just like defenses never figured out Michael Vick in the playoffs? Shurmer got fired, DJ would have been figured out even if Shurmer remained. Spy the QB, and when he rolls right, cover his one or two options running to the right side of the field, because there's no need to worry about the left side, unless the QBs name is John Elway or Patrick Mahommes. Where's Shurmer now, is he even an offensive coordinator? I just looked up Pat Shurmer. He's an offensive coordinator for the University of Colorado. College football, where they need to keep it simple with RPOs for their ever changing roster and new recruits. That gets figured out in the NFL. They keep it simple so they can win, because good programs must win to remain relevant with their recruiting alone. Good talented football players don't want to go to a losing program. Keeping it simple is good for college football, because there's not enough time to train new recruits with a complicated offense, but that don't work in the NFL once the film goes out.
