Any hood in the states. I used to frequent Magic Johnson theater located in the Los Angeles Creshaw district... In addition to talking back, there was singing, dancing in the seats, laughing and co signing in unison... Man those were the days.

Same here in Nigeria : ) to us, the audience is as important as the cast. Read somewhere that in many communities, the 'conversation' is dictated by the listener, not the speaker. I've noticed that amongst many black and brown people worldwide (Indigenous and Black Americans, Africans, some south Asians)

Daniel in Judas and The Black Messiah blew me away. He's great at mimicking accents. His performance is definitely Oscar worthy as well as LaKeith Stanfield. They both deserve nominations.

I'm holding off watching the movie, just saw 'One Night in Miami' taking my time, tha culture, so much content with 'US' now...but gota treat it like fine wine! still few gems, but they b GEMS Alright! His American accent is flawless. The first time I saw him in an interview I was so freaked out that he’s British. He’s an amazing actor taking on not just accents but personality, body language and emotion. I’d love to hear from Africans how his African accent is.

@@sonad1213 good point but also, the US has many accents yet we can surely say an accent is from somewhere in the US. There are a ton of accents in Europe but you can say someone has a European accent, if compared to Africa or the US. So if an Irish actor, for example, faked a New Jersey accent, I know it’s “[US] American” despite there being other regions. It really is okay to say African (or other continents’) accent in some instances. 🙄

Honestly this is one of the more eloquent explanations of the importance of representation that I have heard. And I think it’s because he’s not TRYING to persuade us. He’s simply expressing his experience and his feelings. That is such a powerful way of communicating.

Trying to get tickets for “Get Out” was MADNESS. I had to try like 5 different theaters. And ended up going to one 40 mins away from my house. Getting tix for Black Panther wasn’t as bad.

He's one of the best up and coming actors in my opinion. Every role he's been in, he's vastly different in each. He's a chameleon. I could see him having a Denzel type career tbh

@@spicycalamari8891 Yeah...and "Crazy Rich Asians," an even bigger POS film, so full of cliches it probably set a record and totally ripped off every 'the royal guy and I' movie ever made, WON, what? Using awards for films as a measuring stick is ridiculous. This film was just one long, rolling cliche with cool special effects and bad CGI that wasted a talented lineup of actors on a bad comic series.
