Saw that tour at the Independent in SF. Went to see Tortoise, got my face melted by Lanois.

Dustboy1978, He closed the show with a version of JJ Leaves L.A. that was emotive AND spacey… the highlight of the show was a soul-stirring take on Where Will I Be, which I had only known as an Emmylou Harris tune til then… A really good version of Shine, as well… I love that tune, Frozen… Thanks for your comment!

TBH I hadn’t really paid much attention to DL since that show, but I first heard Frozen a couple years ago and it still makes the hair stand up on my neck. I’m starting a dive into DL’s catalogue, I’ll start with the titles you listed. Thanks!

Cant figure out how sometimes the steel's louder volumes dissolve into a rich harmonic distortion and sometimes it just gets louder but stays clean. Two volume pedals for two sends? It just drips harmonic beauty.

Been a fan ever since I heard Brian Enos Silver morning, which I could play over and over. If anyone knows any similar tracks to that by Daniel please let me know. ❤

Holy moly, what delay and overdrive is he using?
@Joeyd123abc24 жыл бұрын
It's a Korg SDD3000 rack unit for his delay. All the drive is coming from his cranked AC30 :)
@tommyfoley3 жыл бұрын
There’s a preamp in the SDD3000 that he has set hot which drives his cranked Vox AC30 and Fender 5E3. Plus the George L E-66 pickup in his Sho-Bud is a humbucker that runs on the hot side.
@Chris-sv8ty Жыл бұрын
@@tommyfoleydo you know how he's making the volume swell like that? Sounds like he is using a volume pedal or is the volume knob on his guitar?

You know, you look at a person and think you've got an inkling of a vague idea of what sort of person they might be. What depth (or not) they might have in them. Not saying that Mr. Lanois' style of dress or whatever is off-putting , not at all. It's just that, I know if I were to see him on the bus, in Seattle say, and not recognize him right away , I'd not imagine this fellow having this sort of music in him. But there you go.
