I was already an avid reader by the time Potter books came out, but I know many of my friends for whom Harry Potter is the first literature they truly loved reading out of their school syllabus. JK Rowling basically brought an entire generation back to reading books, and ended an almost slump for the publishing industry.

The Potter cast really was up there with one of the greatest ensembles ever assembled, in a time kinda before huge ensemble franchises was a thing at that. From Radcliffe to Richard Harris to Maggie Smith to Alan Rickman to Jason Isaacs to Emma and Rupert, SUCH a winning cast.

@@R4ttl3h34d haha i didn't want it to go on forever!! Plus I wanted to limit it to the original cast as much as possible
@DG-kd5bs5 жыл бұрын
It was a great cast, but it's not an ensemble. That would require several characters to have the same level of importance as Harry. Avengers is probably a better example of an ensemble cast because each superhero is carrying the story.
@cecilyerker5 жыл бұрын
@@DG-kd5bs You literally sound so ignorant. The entire series is full of main characters and minor characters whose paths intersect really tightly in important ways to tell the story and many of them can't be removed or changed without dismantling the plot. The adult ensemble cast in the Harry Potter series is a who's who of all the greatest English, Irish and Scottish actors from that time period, and all of them played characters that were critical to the story. Avengers isn't a better example of an ensemble cast, they're literally doing the exact same thing by following the paths forged by the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises.

He's such an all-around nice guy. Honestly, the original trio and almost all the kids who were in HP turned out to be amazing adults who are very down-to-earth and not at all the image we think of when talking about child stars. I think a big part of that is the older actors on set who took them under their wings, the crew who obviously was very close to them, and the fact that most of the filming happened in the UK and so they weren't exposed to Hollywood in the same way as other child stars are.

Thanks to JK Rowling’s insistence on using a complete British cast, we have probably one of the best casts in the film INDUSTRY in HP
@TheJazluvscats5 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The British cast was a very good decision. As a kid I always dreamt about getting a role in the Potter films. I’m a few years younger than Daniel. I always thought it be fun and made me want to be an actor. However my mom crushed my dreams and told me I couldn’t because I was/am American. At the time that was a huge disappointment but as an adult I can see why that was a good choice that JK Rowling made. Every character was cast perfectly. Been 18 years now. Just shows that we’re getting old lol. HP brings back great memories for a whole generation.😊

He, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson really inspired a whole generaton. Now we're all grown up too and I know many, myself included, whom feel grateful for having such inspiring role models. They never asked for it, certainly not at 12 years old, to carry such heavy weight. But damn, it was pulled off flawlessly. Kuddos to their parents and set-members for keeping those three so sane, to inspire their peers to do better and be kind :)

I was at a summer camp and every day between 14:00 and 17:00 we were supposed to be in our ''houses'' and sleep. I personally didnt feel like sleeping at all most of the time, so I would go to the library and get a book to read. The girl who was sleeping on the bed under me, was quite different than the other kids and myself, she wouldnt be too interested in sports or silly games, she would be reading her own books that she brought with her and she wouldnt hang out with the rest most of the time, but stay with her nose in her book. She had very long, wavy-curly hair. One day after finishing the book I had taken from the library, I still had about 2 hours until 17:00 and had nothing else to do than look at the ceiling and make sure im quiet. Until I hear her turning a page. I looked down to her and whispered to her: ''Hey, is there a chance you have a book for me to read? Just finished the one I got this morning and I dont know what to do''. She looked at me and waved me to come down to her bed. I went down and sat next to her as she was opening her suitcase. She whispered: ''I dont usually trust people with my books, they tend to not take care of them like I would for theirs, but I've seen you are a fan of reading so I need you to promise me you will be careful.'' I assured her that I will be extremely careful and wont take too long to finish it, as I have always been a fast reader. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I finished the entire book in 3 hours. I couldnt take my eyes off of it, I was immediately, instantly addicted. I read every single page, even the credits and the promo to other books they had on the last pages. I RAN to that girl, full of excitement and asked her to tell me more about those books, this world. We spent the rest of our days at camp together being absolute Harry Potter nerds and as soon as I got home I got the 3 books that were out and the 4th had JUST gotten released, my dad waited outside the bookstore for 2 hours to buy it for me. And later next year, the first movie. I am 28 years old today, I was 8 when I found out about the books. I couldnt be more proud of the education I received thanks to Harry Potter, as I registered for English lessons the following September of that year. Well my English is a bit rusty now, as I dont really have anyone to ''practise'' with, other than watching movies-series with no subtitles. I love my childhood and I am glad I was alive at that era.
