I don't think he's trying to put on any accents. I'm British and I just thought he was American - he's THAT good ;). I assume he's just spent too much time in America and acting in an american accent that some of it just sneaks into his speech sometimes. I just-... Hackney, though? I never would have guessed he grew up there. Never.

It's actually sometimes a psychological thing, a person will try to mimic the accent of the one they're talking to in order to make them more comfortable. Since he can do such a good American accent it only makes sense he would use it in the US more often. But if you see his other interviews and such he definitely has a complete English accent. :)
