I’m surprised that Daniella is the first kid I’ve seen that nurses from other mothers and not just from her mother Dana. I was even more surprised seeing dolly allow Daniella to nurse but only for a short period till she realizes it’s Daniella and then pushes her away. Majority of the kids only drink from their mothers unless they were orphaned or adopted by another capable to nurse them female. I get Dana, dolly and Deedee are related in some way, Dana and dolly are siblings while Deedee is dollys daughter? Still Daniella really lives by different rules. She nurses from whomever allows her. Snuggles up to other monkeys. Runs away from her mothers often. Eats whatever she puts her hands on and not caring to follow the hierarchy rules of adults eat first which ended up being abused And abandoned by her mother because she was tired and frustrated of trying to teach and discipline Daniella who just doesn’t listen. It shows because she’s been abused every day and still she’s disrespectful and not rule abiding which is why Deedee and dolly still is disciplining Daniella. Because of Daniella’s stubbornness and unwilling to listen and just does what she wants without care of what happens to her, no one is gonna get through to her and teach her nor will they get Daniella to submit she’s way too far beyond that already she’s considered and lost cause and that’s why she got killed. If a monkey isn’t gonna follow the rules than it can be exiled or eliminated and that’s what happened to Daniella.

Ultimately, we have Dolly to thank for all of this evil, torturous behavior. She has instilled in Dee Dee the desire to behave in this way and then encourages her by teaming up together with her to pour as much abuse out on Daniele and her mom as possible. I understand the concept of hierarchy, but not all monkeys further up the chain are this needlessly cruel.

Had she shut her mouth and not acted like a complete psycho, DeeDee wouldve lost interest like she had with all the other younglings. A constantly screeching monkey is a huge no-no in monkey land. It drawls unwanted attention, predators and puts the whole troop in danger. I'm honestly surprised the troop put up with her antics for as long as they did.

For a monkey supposedly tortured and starved so often, She seems to nurse in every single video. At the end of every video like this she is hoovering away on Dana. I've noticed there are many times where Dolly or Dee Dee take Daniella from Dana who often seems to be trying to free herself from Daniella as if for a break. They are not abusing her at all. They are just holding her. Daniella simply refuses to spend time away from Dana. They are just babysitting and Daniella attempts to nurse off of Dolly, And shrieks and cries and tries to escape despite nothing going on. I see this often. She seems to appear Alot when the females of the troop are napping or grooming each other, and the other young monkeys are off doing something else. Probably the things they are supposed to be doing at the time. Daniella was a very stubborn, Headstrong monkey who did not want to listen to troop rules. She gets her way, Or she freaks out. True, The VO's helped to cause her demise, But there was something wrong with her from the get go. I do not think she would have made it to adulthood regardless of Santra killing her. Sad, but it's simply the truth.

There was nothing wrong with her except the abuse she endure from Dolly and DeeDee that made her neurotic and bruised up. You dont see Dana retrieving her in this video and immediately puting her on the nipple. Daniela is all of 2 weeks in this video. She is suppose to be nursing regularly. Your observations skills and knowledge of these animals is extremely poor. There are countless videos where Dana has to retrieve her and she feeds her immediately. Which you recognize but then claim that Dana wanted her to be taken. You dont see them trying to get Daniela back? So you are contradictory yourself. The only thing wrong with this troop was that Dolly was a poor alpha and allowed DeeDees abusive behavior. That is why DeeDee was rejected by the troop as alpha. Despite her youth if the males supported her she would have been have been the female alpha but they did not.

Hi Teresa, I know you are in all likelihood deeper in your overall knowledge of these animals, And I have gained some insight from the things you have said. However, what is seen, is often what is true. In almost everyone of these videos, usually a longer section, at the end, Daniella is locked right to Dana, And is nursing. Of course that is what she should be doing at this point, Being that she is still a "baby"in the truest technical sense of the word, But it is also true that Dana seems quite frazzled with her continued insistence at hanging on to Dana past the point that Dana wants her there. While Dolly was perhaps not a very good alpha, Dana as a mother was consistent in her inconsistency with both Donny, And Daniella. When mom says no, It's no. Daniella, Baby or not, Refused to listen, Typically leading to either Dana "weaning" her, Or one of the aunties, taking her. In alot of those videos when she is taken, Whoever grabbed her is just sitting quietly with her, Usually very close to Dana. Daniella absolutely would not accept it, And constantly made noise, And fought with whoever held her. There are also videos where all of the other monkeys are being quiet, And she is just spazzing out at the top of her lungs, with none of the females doing a thing to her. I've also seen several videos where she is spazzing out, And she hits And bites whoever tries to calm her down. Countless other people have commented on Daniella and her "behavior" and seem to see things the way I see them. Yes, She didn't draw an easy straw in life, but I've seen Alot of other baby monkeys who had it worse, And they managed to survive. So while my knowledge while not be as "deep" as yours, it certainly isn't poor, as it reflects the majority view on this particular baby monkey. I've yet to hear your explanation for why she was killed by Santra, if Dolly and Dee Dee represented the biggest threat to her. I believe that both of our viewpoints are basically true, And not in conflict with reality. I simply do not believe that you, And you alone, know the truth about Daniella and her situation. Again, The majority view of her aligns with my viewpoint. You simply see things from being either right, Or wrong, With no middle ground. I believe the answers, And the truth exists there. For whatever reason, and in relation to all the other baby monkey videos I've watched, Daniella was a stubborn, Headstrong, willfully defiant baby, In a troop known for producing that type of baby. Everything I've claimed can be pointed out in any number of the videos on her. While everything you claim is basically true, What I've said about her is also true. As far as baby monkeys go, She was An exceptionally loud, Spazzy, bad habit baby, whose troop got sick of her, And let her fall victim to predation.So then, How do you explain it without just brushing aside the majority view on her, And all the video evidence that shows her behaving that way?

@@scottbutkowski5803 Daniela did not fight constanly with whoever held her there are many videos of her being held by Popeye, Jill, Maria, Tima, Ashley, and Jessie. Popeye would groom her to sleep. I dont know where you getting she would not be calm in the presence of other adults. She may have coo a lot like when Ashley had her but she did not gecker hysterically like with DeeDee. Daniela learned to trust Ashley. And the coo is considered an affililatory not aversive call. And most kidnapped infants coo. They become hysterical when being abused like Anissa is currently experiencing. Daniela was hysterical with DeeDee and Dolly but that was probably due to the abuse and dragging. Also Donny had the same fights with his mother over nursing. Dana tires to make them independent early but the infant may not be ready due to age. Primatologists dont seem to study weaning until they are 4 months. These mothers wean early due to the availiable of resources from being feed by humans. Dana was actually more invested in Daniela than Donny. That probably had to do with with all the kidnappings. Donny was left more alone as Brutus Jr was the focus of Dolly and DeeDee. Brutus Jr would also protest being held by Dolly. The video I posted from the zoo that infant is protesting and calms down when protected. And Daniela is a neurotic mess but that is because of the abuse not the cause of it. She would have been fine if Maria was the alpha or Amari was the alpha as they were not abusive.

Look, Spin it however you want. All I am doing is describing what I am seeing, And the video you use to support your position, Actually supports mine. Every monkey in that troop was in their curiosity a threat to baby Rey. He/She didn't do anything to deserve it, But they all handled her roughly from the get go. Anything I post is solely based on what I see. I've thought about putting up videos that support my viewpoint to hear your explanation for it, But the truth is the truth. Daniella, like other certain baby monkeys before her, Seemed to lack the ability to understand troop rules. There are several videos where Daniella is just Shreiking at the top of her lungs simply because there isn't an older monkey there to pick her up and carry her. I'm sure you have seen them. In some of these videos the other younger monkeys in the troop are there being quiet, And just acting normal. Dolly and Dee Dee did not act outside of parameters that higher ranking females use when dealing with the offspring of lower ranking monkeys. There behavior was normal. Daniella's was not. There are countless others who see it the way I see it, And I'm not a monkey hater. There was something off with Daniella. As you pointed out, Dana was the same way, If not worse, With Donny. He survived. He also caught some grief from some of the other monkeys in the troop, But again, He learned. He adapted. Daniella was showing zero sign of adaptive behavior. In the videos with Dolly and Dee Dee, Mostly they are just sitting there, Holding her. They are not harming her at all. I can't help but think had she just learned to calm down, be quiet, And sit still for a little while, They would of let her go, And she would have avoided Alot of the harsher treatment she received. How is this not a reasonable viewpoint? Same thing with nursing. So what if primatologists say weaning up to two years is common? This is not a normal, or common troop. Here, It seems that almost all the mothers start to wean early. Some as early as a few weeks. There are a bunch of videos where Daniella refuses to stop after Dana said enough for now. She just didn't listen to anybody. The videos are abundant with her defiant behaviors, And direct defiance of older troop members. That is what I see. Almost all baby monkeys deal with what she dealt with to varying degrees. Most adapt. Most learn to listen, And submit. Daniella absolutely did not. None of what Dolly and Dee Dee did caused her physical death, Or even permanent injury. So why does it seem that the entire troop had serious issues with her? Are you really going to try to solely pin it on Dolly and Dee Dee? Daniella unchecked could very well have turned out like Sweetpea, The worst monkey ever. You think maybe the troop learned a little bit from his bad behavior, And attempted to prevent it in the baby monkeys that followed?

Yes, some of the cries she makes constantly 👀🙄 are “fear” cries, but she does them mostly out of context. Cause she wants to. Cause she wants attention. Cause she wants to start trouble. Making fear cries as SHE is lunging at her mother or an elder??! She is so defiant. You can watch other babies in these clips. They will approach sometimes as their mother or an elder is eating and almost ask if they could have some or wait until they are given some, or not even attempt to approach and just wait til it is their turn to eat. There was even a specific time one of them was “waiting” to see of the elder would allow it to have some and Daniela’s greedy self is right there grabbing and breaking rules and the other baby leaned in closure to the fruit and one of the elders tapped it on the head. Cross between a tap and a light smack, but that baby just was like “okay, bee back later when it’s my turn) and walked away-no tantrum or shit stirring. So it is not typical that a baby or juvenile monkey constantly behave out of pocket like Daniela did.

I don’t blame this poor sweet baby girl for being upset, she is literally kidnapped nonstop and abused. I hate how these monkeys pick 1or 2 babies to just harass non stop more than the other babies. I understand that kidnapping is just a way of life with these monkeys but I just hate to see them really going after the same ones over and over....I’m curious what it is that draws them to those specific babies, I’m sure it’s a whole list of things put together but man it just breaks my heart. I hope her mom whips DeeDee and her devil mom Dolly’s ass one day....I do like seeing the dominant males getting involved and fighting them but it’s not stopping them from doing it. I guess if it doesn’t kill her it will make her stronger...sadly but at least she will be one tough cookie!
