Basing on the entire movie's plot about second born children being the prophecy child of Satan, the reason why she was drugged and raped was to bear that second child for sacrifice since they could not get rid of Loren. So, I think the child is safe unless if someone from that town survived the entire thing and set out a new cult to kill the baby she's bearing at the perfect time the child hits puberty. Killing it (which is abortion at this point) would be the exact act of sacrifice the devil wants. That's why she has to take care of the baby, and not the opposite.

Movie didn't make sense if there was a prophecy to kill Doug and the townspeople, God just forgot about it until Katherine brought it up? Loren runs away but can show visions only Katherine would know so the whole movie of her playing cat and mouse was extremely exaggerated when upon going to the river, everything could've been sorted out, that's even if the town wasn't destroyed by the first born prophecy already.... A part 2 wouldn't had made sense and since Katherine knows that's Satan's child she wouldn't let it live, and since she has the powers to stop evil, she could easily get it done through abortion and that will be the end of it...

They all knew except her, which would've been primed for the taking, they waited until she herself found out.... the whole town was a cult and didn't know beforehand would be impossible. Then when the people died, it really felt like the powers didn't activate until after they all realized it lol. I mean it's an old movie, but it's not THAT old they couldn't make it seem believable to had things shown earlier when it's queued to happen. If she just came into town I would've expected everything to happen instantly except for her and Doug going down on each other, everything else was perfect to happen instead of unfolding the mystery as time went on...

This town really decided to fight again the puberty... Now seriously days ago this woman spoke about toxic waste causing hallucinations. Then starts hallucinate with the girl and lots of everything the writers could fit in screentime and decides to stay. Even if the river is just as red as the last toxic substance that actually caused hallucinations. So paranormal, satanical, biblical whatever she is a woman of science and logic or at least if she really was she would have left till have results of the river water samples they may have been breathing toxic waste for all she knows, turned up satanic blood but she still ended up in life threatening situation. And btw when you see a girl who just goes around kreepingbon people while menstruating with no one even helping her and cleaning her up you call social services and more if said girls attacks her mother who is totally mistreating and neglecting her. So once the basic is not done the rest is bullshit of a movie.

The bad dreams were shown to not be dreams. She was drugged and r*ped by Doug. It's possible she was hallucinating the other stuff too since it happened the same night, but she woke up with sand on her feet. Like the sacrificial daughter she nightmared could have been an actual child she was present for the sacrifice of since Doug was trying to get her into the cult.
