I disagree. America fell in love with her because she is every parent’s, grandparent’s, next door neighbor’s, classmate’s, “She is from my hometown”, “I wish I could say I knew her when”, or just flat ass thought “what a great wholesome young lady who I hope will win this competition”.
@enigmawyoming52016 ай бұрын
Personally for me, her high note on “Little Bit Longer”… with impeccable intonation and amazingly mature breath control, sent me to the stratosphere. But… I’m more of a technical critic of musicians, and you are more of a ‘made me feel good’ music appreciation kinda person. Which is GREAT!!!!

There were some real heavyweights on the show that year. At only 16 years old, it was really the most remarkable run in the shows history considering the fact that she never sang in front of a live audience before in her life. She slayed them all by methodically picking perfect songs that showcased her power & range. Took out Judith Hill & Sara Simmons who were 4-chair turns & seasoned vets. Also fellow Texan Holly Tucker. It was a real gauntlet. Unreal singing ability. 💯

Good heavens. This was the absolute perfect choice for her to sing for the semi finals. Wow. Kudos to her for not starting to cry when she turned toward her family, better yet, walked over there and sang beside them. WOW. These competitions are not easy and the emotions and stress of it all often build up by this point in which some contestants would have easily broken in a moment like this. She did an excellent job, especially for only being 16.
