We’re never gonna see SnowBarry become canon unfortunately, but there’s nothing wrong with harmless shipping between characters we feel have better chemistry-as long as we don’t use it as an excuse to get angry. Personally I feel that Barry has always felt more connected to nerdy and bubbly characters like Caitlin, Patty, Kara and Felicity but I also recognize that the writers are all-in on WestAllen and I can accept that.

I hate how westallen fans use the earlier moments to hate on Dani for "baiting" Snowbarry's but she honestly had no idea how the show was gonna go. Like at that point Iris was still in love with Eddie who had just died. And very clearly as the show progressed she stopped saying "snowbarry" so much and instead said "barry and caitlin *friendship* scenes" or "barry, cisco, caitlin scenes". Like yes, she seemed to very much enjoy snowbarry but I just despise the hate she gets for it, she's not telling ppl to hate on Candice that's they're own stupid decisions

I think a lot of snowbarry shippers have given up because it’s been 8 years they just started production for season 8 a lot of us have excepted that it is never going to happen even I I have though I like to know that at one point there was a strong real possibility that it could’ve happened and that it would have been amazing. The fact that the actors had so much chemistry on screen was what made it stand out throughout the show and Danielle recognized that and she loved that I’d like to think that Danielle had a big thought that her character and grant’s had a possibility of actually happening. I’m pretty sure the writers could’ve squeeze that in if they weren’t trying to hard to get westAllen to happen so fast, they even squeezed in what a 5 episode relationship between Barry and Patty the writers just wanted to force Iris and Barry together way to fast and I think that is what made Westallen relationship so bad

I do have to wonder if there was a plan for Barry and Caitlin to get together at eventually, or if SnowBarry kinda took on a life of it’s own. Maybe the producers weren’t paying enough attention to how well this pairing was written and the amazing on-screen chemistry they shared and slammed the breaks on it in a panic. The writers certainly made me believe in Barry and Caitlin’s relationship during season one, so I have to imagine that even if there wasn’t a solid plan in place for these two, there sure was at least intent behind how this pairing was written. Ironically, I was a WestAllen fan initially when show first premiered, though only in the sense that I was a sucker (and still am) for the "childhood best friends who turn into something more” trope. After episode 3 I had almost completely changed my my mind on WestAllen and by episode 7, I had fully converted to SnowBarry! Whatever the reason that SnowBarry never become official, I feel it was a real missed opportunity. Being a live action adaption of a DC comic character, The Flash needn’t (and shouldn’t) have been beholden to some nebulous comicbook “canon” if it came at the expense of good storytelling. Most unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. SnowBarry, which was a core part of that good storytelling, was it’s biggest casualty.
