For anyone saying “why didn’t she just leave?”l…it’s obvious you’ve never been in that situation. I was a child in the situation. My mother took years to leave my father because she had to come up with an elaborate plan that took a long time to execute and after that he tried to run her off the road and kill her. Also, you have to leave during a time of peace when they don’t expect it, not when things are at their worst. So many end up dead when they try to “just leave”….it’s not that simple at all.
@AtonalApple

Exactly! So many women end up murdered or missing when they “just leave”. My mom had us four kids and none of the DV shelters would let my brothers come. People that say “just leave” have obviously never experienced DV and are just blindly throwing out their ignorant opinion.

This is the difference between Amber Heard and a real victim of domestic violence. There are no flowery details, no fake tears, no dramatics, no turning toward the jury every 5 seconds to cry, then turning back ice cold. You can see the way she is sitting, a bit hunched, meek, almost like Johnny Depp during his trial. You can't fake domestic violence the way that Amber thought she could. All of her theater revealed her lies. I am so glad that she was acquitted. This woman is telling the truth.

@@leilani_808 I'm afraid there are many like us. At 6 years old, I was responsible for getting my younger brother and myself out of the house ASAP when the fighting started. We went to our neighbor's house if it wasn't too late at night. Otherwise, we hid behind the bushes in front of our house until my grandparents (my mother's parents) arrived. My 9 year old sister always stayed inside with my Mom. I'm a grown woman myself now and, although I would never ever put up with that out of any man, I still tend to run away from bad situations whereas my sister faces things head on. Hard to change what's been drilled into your mind at such a young age.

So from my understanding, she first said he had a heart attack. And she says she tried to give him CPR until she collapsed and fell asleep from exhaustion. Then, she says he actually stabbed himself. Her third story is that it was self defense, but she had the knife hidden in the bathroom with her. And the final story was that it was self defense and she stabbed him in the kitchen. And there is no doubt that she attempted to clean up the crime scene. Why would she do that if it was just self defense? And how can you believe the only survivor's story, when it keeps changing?

Or did she see him take a step back after she stabbed him, meaning she was watching his reaction to being stabbed at that point and couldn't be running away from him thinking he was still coming after her. It can't be both ways.

Her story mirrors mind almost exactly. His constant baiting and bullying tactics were identical to my ex husband's behaviors. Only difference was he pinned me down with an H and K automatic rifle on Christmas eve. I managed to get loose from his grip. I begged my children to call 911 but no one did. They just told me that if i was good, daddy would stop. I ran away barefoot to a neighbors house. She called 911. The police came but did nothing . I was the one ordered to leave. I did. I went back to our apartment in Manhattan while he got the kids and the house. Yes i went back. He would pull a gun on me at least 2 more times. I saw no way out. I finally just told him to be a good dad to my kids whom i lived more than life itself and I left and never came back. I lost evetything but i am alive today to tell my story. The law never helps you. The judge was mean and flippant. He even chastized me for staying as long as I did. I had nowhere else to go. He did nothing to protect me from this monster. . I was homeless for 2 years. I finally graduated from nursing school and got my life back. I am now remarried to the most amazing man in the world. He treats me like a queen always trying to make up for all that I suffered at the hands of this monster. But God is good. This monster has shut himself up in his little apartment building like a hermit. He never goes out and he is a prisoner of his own sick mind. I live in sunshine and have traveled and done so much after leaving him with just the clothes on my back almost 30 years ago. But this reminds me of like it was yesterday.

He had taken every thing of value told me that I could get it if I came alone. It wasn't worth it things could be replaced but I assumed that he would kill me. He followed me and my young daughter to two states. Not sure who told him where were. Finally moved to Ann Arbor Michigan and never saw him again. I would have killed him if I was able. I left as well, I planned ahead and squirrelled away some money (difficult to do when you have to account for every penny. I bought items, paying cash and once my husband had recorded the expense, I returned the items and hid the money). I was able to slowly remove some items from the house by hiding them in my sister's place and finally I had my mother show up in a pickup truck, loaded my son's bed, some toys and our clothes and my son and I left. Two months later my abusive husband refused to return our son to me after visitation and I was told I wouks never aee him again if I didnt sign off on house, vehicles, business etc so I did. He still wouldnt give me our son. Thank god the courts ordered him to give him to me and our son was returned safe. The police surrounded our house and he agreed to give our son back. Eventually the father was denied any rights by the courts.

Her brain still wasn’t developed fully BUT she knew what she was doing was wrong which is why she kept it from her friends and family.. I think she was vulnerable and he wooed her. He had a lot of connections and was worldly and showed her a lifestyle that she could be comfortable living. I mean he bought her a whole house. Diana, not victim-blaming, but think about how you just said you're "coming out of an abusive relationship." That means you made decisions to get away and stay away. Tough to do, but you took that opportunity and got out. I've made decisions to get and stay out of abusive relationships, too. My first abusive relationship almost cost me my life. My last abusive relationship cost me nothing but a little time because when I saw it, brought it to her attention, and saw no effort in her to work on herself, I ended it, and that was WAY before it had a chance to become physical. This person was faced with the decision to get out and stay out time and time again. Her "breaking point" was passed a long time ago. Stabbing him during a physical altercation was completely avoidable. Knowing he had a history of putting his hands on her should have prompted her to call the police, stayed away from home, locked herself in a safe space, or do countless other things aside from be in the place she was in at the time the last physical confrontation took place. @@76482 That's a fair question. I watched that too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people that blindly believe something regardless of the evidence presented. It is very damning for her case, but when taken into account the past that she experienced at the hands of an aggressive domestic abuser, it would be difficult for one to know how you'd react in the same circumstances. There's so much to unpack in this case, but when I watch how she talks and explains herself, I feel that she is very honest albeit 'matter-of-fact' about the situation. She absolutely should have called 911 immediately, but when I think of just some of the things that were running through her mind, like stopping your aggressor, the overwhelming emotional feeling must have come to her as it sinks in that she just killed her husband... it's not outside the realms of possibility that one would begin to clean up a bit either, even if they were innocent. I believe she began to lie due to the intense feeling of the weight of the justice system bearing down on her as the reality sinks in. But there is more to be seen, so no one can say at this stage.

And just to make it perfectly clear to all the ladies out there: not only is it hard to keep away abusers and have stalking taken seriously but if there’s ever a case where you have to defend yourself like this woman, and the man dies, well.. you’re gonna spend three years in prison defending yourself before you can go to trail, and then if your acquitted but are found guilty of a misdemeanor during the process, you get to wait in jail another two months to await sentencing on something you’ll probably just get community service for. I've not been listening and have so much to get caught up on with this case, but I'm really interested in more of her mental state. Specifically the impact and effects of marrying her stepfather....I've got so many questions. Listening to this testimony, albeit whether on sedatives or not, cognitively, the recall is flowing without having to show fabrication on the stand. Well rehearsed? Possibly. But depending on psychiatric medications and dose - especially if one IS a sedative and seeing her struggle to stay awake - she is definitely coming across as genuine with regard to this line of questioning.

She said in testimony she's not taking any medications. Women have a difficult enough time with hormones as they age which isn't helped by poor quality jail food and not able to get quality sleep. The lights are always on and there's a lot of noise and discomfort in jail. That would make anyone fatigued on top of going to court everyday for trial.

Her lawyer cuts her off and then asks a question just to get the same thing she was already saying and previously I’d be like that’s rude and not helpful but what I’ve learned from the JD vs. AH trial is the other side will object on the grounds of her being non-responsive to the question he asked and now just speaking on a tangent so he quickly cuts her off and adds his question so she doesn’t get an objection and can continue on. He’s still speaking and moving on very quickly! Slow down!!
