Another great video, you make it seem such a simple game with the way you break the shot down. Would love to see more green side chipping but from steep banks, where the ball is in thick rough high above the pin or down below the green where you can’t see the flag. Thanks.

Danny - just wanted to thank you for these videos. I gave up golf 10 years ago as a 14 handicapper and only came back to the game this year. As I couldn't hit a ball for toffee I was given a provisional 22 handicap. By mainly eradicating my slice and - more importantly - improving my iron and short game I got an 81 gross last week and a 72 gross this week on Wirral GC. People who know it will tell you its a short but tight course and the last 2 scores were from winter tees but irrespective of that my game has improved dramatically and much of that is down to these videos which made it very clear the mistakes I was making. Thanks again.

I have been struggling for 4 years with chipping around the greens. Had a couple of different lessons, both used different techniques. The last one was much more hinge and turn. That worked but it was had to take it to the course and unreliable. This looks much more repeatable, took it up to the practice green, it worked, very consistent. Going to do more testing with different lofts and then try on the course. Thanks Danny this technique looks like it is much more repeatable under pressure than previous techniques. Thank you!!

Great video Danny! Very helpful. You asked for feedback: where I struggle is not lies in rough, but tight lies on a tight fairway, where contact has to be very precise. When my eyes see the tight lie, they tend to make me pull up away from the ball, skulling it as a common result. It's frustrating as I will practice hitting many balls at the short game range, and be very successful, but as when I am out on the course, my success rate drops to below 50%. (I haven't tried all that I have learned in this video on that situation. and I think this should help. I do know, from your video with Peter Cowan, that I have to move my hands a small amount, and unload/release the club through the hitting area, but I wasn't aware of the hands ending up close to the hips, and left shoulder going up and back.)
@DanielMaude2 жыл бұрын
When the lie is really tight do exactly what I show in this video. It really activates the bounce meaning you don’t have to be precise. In fact that’s what I would advise, please stop trying to be super precise on strike, it’s ok to strike the ground behind the ball. Practice it and let me know how it goes. If you find you catch it heavy it’s because the leading edge is digging in
@DavidSkok12 жыл бұрын
@@DanielMaude Many thanks Danny. I very much appreciate the reply. This was working well on the range this morning before going out to play. I need more practice, as I still yipped a 30 yard pitch, for second shot into a green (skulled the ball way over the green!). I think I need to build trust that this will work every time, which will likely take more practice time. It's very clear that the instruction you are giving is dead right and addresses the key problems that I see, so I very much appreciate that. I think the problem I run into is when I try to force unloading of the club using my hands instead of allowing it time to release naturally. BTW - your channel is excellent - thank you.
@DavidSkok12 жыл бұрын
@@DanielMaude Some good news. I was right in my diagnosis below: I was trying to use my hands to create the backswing and release, and what I did to fix that was to make my grip very soft and to use my body to control the movement, thinking of keeping the hands in front of my chest. I was then able to really feel like I could reproduce this, and bingo: on the course yesterday I hit a couple of very tricky pitch shots where they had to go over a bunker with water on the far side of the green. My playing partners were impressed! Again thanks the great content!

Really useful tips. I struggle getting the height as it either goes too flat or if I do get the height right, it over runs. I was doing all the things your student was doing. I shall try these techniques. The tip about keeping the club closer to the hip on release looks helpful as I definitely have too big a gap & try to push through rather than get the club under.

Ive hit that shot, Liam's (name? couldn't understand) first shot 1,000 times when I practice. You know, the putt-looking shot that goes right off of the leading edge or hosel. I can hit countless good shots on patio out back with a foam ball and a square of Astroturf. Out on the practice greens, it's another story. Im convinced it has to do with trying to load through impact. Thx for your tip here, I'm pretty sure it will help me if I apply the proper mechanics.

Thanks Danny, I was about to message you on this short side chipping from a bad lie, your other chipping videos did not cover it as well. Thanks to you and all your videos l,m playing better and more consistently. I have found with your videos ofter its the tiny little instructional words you say make a great deal of difference. On one pitching video you suggested downward pressure in the swing. (clips the grass) This of course assumes there is no dip in the swing. I recently have used this tip with my iron swings. My fat shots have reduced significantly. Started playing at 11, 6 cap at 16. between 6-11 for 55 years, I,m going to get a legit handicap again at 67. These days my goal is to break 75. I shoot mid low 70,s. My drives are at 220-270 now, my irons are same as I was when I was 16, 7 iron carry 145 . I am usually withing 60 feet of the hole and its a game of getting up and down. My life only allows playing within a 4 your on course window. No time to practice no time for playing with others just me and my caddie. This lesson is KEY. Thanks.

This is a good example using a novice golfer like me. I feel his pain😃my problem is aim and I can’t wait to try keeping my arms close to the body. My chipping has improved since I started using the pitcher as a pendulum

Excellent visuals again Danny! My greatest challenge remains distance control from anything up to 70/80 yards from the Pin. Whilst I’m getting reasonable contact my weakness is leaving everything short so work on my length of swing/pivot using the clock face analogy and experimenting through my range of wedge lofts 50, 54 and 60

Just starting to get into golf so these videos are extremely helpful, I brought a used set of clubs so have irons 3-9 and a P and SW. Should i buy a club for the short game or is what i have sufficient?

Danny, I love your instructions. My biggest mistake in chipping,pitching; really most my bad shots seems to be not watching my club strike the ball. This results in chunking, very thin shots, missing the sweet spot. Frustration. Jim Roberg

Loved this video as it hits one of my biggest problems. I can't wait to get out and practice this and use it in my match. Question - what is the training aid that you're using and what is its purpose? I must have missed the video when you first introduced it. Thanks from Cape Cod

I'm a senior golfer from Florida. Chipping is the worst part of my game. Tell us how you get the club under the ball when its sitting flush with the ground surrounded by the bermuda grass. I could enjoy golf much more if I had this talent!!!

If it’s really buried the same applies, although I would make sure the angle of attack is a little steeper
