to be fair, he's simplifying his play to be understandable with positions that match the elo that his account has reached. But yeah, if I'm watching hikaru, for example, it's really hard to understand his moves until 5 moves later, if at all

Thanks for another great video, Daniel. Love your content. A valuable lesson I took away from this game was to never get too attached to my plan. You had no hassles in changing your plans as the position demanded it. You intended to castle short and gave that up to open the e-file. Then you were eyeing the rook on h8 but had to change that in light of his defense. Then you intended pinning the queen with Re1 but decided to trade queens in the next couple moves. That’s something I really have to absorb. I get too committed to my plan and often have trouble giving up my ‘good’ ideas as the position evolves and often I pay for it dearly. Thanks so much once again.

for the player that asked about this being a miniature... it isn't. It's just not interesting when a strong player (a 2600+ FIDE rated GM) beats a weaker player (~1700 chess.com) quickly. The term miniature (kinda) implies that the game happened much faster than expected, ie two roughly equally rated players. It's not a miniature when you fools mate someone, because the game simply isn't interesting to most people.

This is so familiar to me. Though I don't play at the level of a 1700, I have games where I make some pretty decent moves in the opening and even in the mid-game but then I blunder a piece and after that it's just one blunder after another

Blundering pieces is something you fix by learning to control your thiughts better and overlooking blunders less. You don't climb by keeping your repertoire of mistakes and hoping to outplay your opponents anyway 😂
@lukeweston12343 жыл бұрын
@@ChessJourneyman i think I could learn a lot by how a GM assesses threats and how he defends against an attack in a losing position. If you think you’re beyond that then by all means I understand.
@justinlawrence56113 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean by this, but at 1200 most of your efforts should be focused on not getting in a losing position in the first place. Outplaying your opponent from a losing position is incredibly rewarding but is essentially “hope chess” as they have to either blunder something back or you wear them down by staying sharp and not letting up, which is more a test of mental fortitude than strategic knowledge.
