Danya makes you understand chess. There's a thought process behind every move, he explains that, he explains why some moves are not good, and as you see more of his videos, you start to grasp the thought process any chess player should follow. Probably one of the best teachers of chess out there

Danya you should do a “reverse speed run” where lower rated players play you, and they commentate their moves so we can see their faulty rationale, and then you can analyze and show where they went wrong.

Is coaching not sufficient? What would we gain from listening to a worse player give their thoughts on a position vs a gm
@alexnail3 жыл бұрын
@@micachakraborty2630 well I was assuming it would be more of a discussion! Explaining why the beginner logic is wrong/trying to isolate common mental traps that beginners fall into. I think Daniel is already excellent at that by the way, but I think including a 1400ish player in the discussion could be really interesting. On the other hand this would then basically become a 1:1 lesson and I’m not sure he should necessarily give everything away like that!

This was an amazing video! I really love your videos because they focus more on teaching chess rather than just entertainment. For someone who truly wants to learn chess, this kind of content is actually more engaging. The way you calmly and step by step explain and help us think-or learn how to think-is fantastic. After all, the true charm of chess lies in gradually uncovering and exploring ideas.

Hey Daniel, I never have the opportunity to thank you for all the free videos that you upload on daily/weekly basis, it means a lot to me. Also I wanna congratulate you for your victory against Fabi, maybe Fabi doesn't have the best tournament, but your style of playing is amazing and you deserve your victory. I come from Macedonia, where interest in chess is very low, there are a total of 9 grandmasters in the country, people here are occupied with poverty, high level of corruption, low salaries and nobody have time to teach chess, to play chess or to invest in chess, so our only touch with chess are these chess videos on KZbin, and yours are my favorites. Once again, thank you!

It would be great to have double audio with both a 1400 and Danya like he sometimes does with Firouzja in bullet matches. It would help to understand the flawed thought process of the weaker player. You could hear the 1400 say things like "I'm just gonna be solid here" while Danya says "He's playing just a bit too passive, and it's time to pounce."

As always, amazing content. Only critique: without getting into the nuances of the German "ü", if you say "ooh" (as in "ooh, ahh, look at those fireworks!") and add a hint of "ewe" (as in sheep), the pronunciation would be slightly more accurate. "Groonfeld(t)" would be just fine, with a hint of "Grewenfeld" and you could be a native speaker. ;-)

Move 27. ... Nxb3 was obvious. Just calculate because of the last move white made. Ask your self what if i take bishop where will my knight be if you do you will see white has two pieces hanging and he has to try to defend both and recapture the knight all at the same time which is impossible.
@bennya28463 жыл бұрын

Danya, just to clarify: at 4:15, this doesn't make White "lose a tempo." People always say this in QGD positions and it's not true. All it does is prevent white from *gaining* a tempo by capturing and developing simultaneously. This is similar to when people say the scandinavian "loses a tempo" since you have to move your queen without mentioning that black developed the queen for free on a capture (while white captured the pawn without developing).
@ethan0733 жыл бұрын
Six to one, half a dozen to another
@DanielNaroditskyGM3 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting perspective, but I have to respectfully disagree (though I'd say that either way of thinking about it is valid, and what I'm about to say is pretty much just semantics). I think the fact that the bishop captures the pawn on c4 is irrelevant; Bc4 is still a developing move, and I believe the only way to gain a tempo by developing is to simultaneously attack one of your opponent's pieces; simply capturing something does not equate to gaining a tempo. Hence, White has still moved the bishop twice, and so I believe it's more accurate to refer to it as losing a tempo. I hope that makes sense :)
@nickdeschenes73773 жыл бұрын
@@DanielNaroditskyGM As a Catalan player, your version of this makes more sense. It isn't as though white recaptures in all such positions... but you certainly do if your bishop is hit, whether you like it or not!
@BRNRDNCK3 жыл бұрын
@@DanielNaroditskyGM This makes sense and you’re correct that it’s a semantic disagreement. I tend to think the phrase “gaining a tempo” should apply in all cases where one side develops more quickly than the other, irrespective of whether that came by way of a threat or capture, but I’m also not in charge of defining words :)
