Man, I'm obsessed with listening to the Daniels talk about literally anything. They are such grounded people, with no pretention or overblown prestige whatsoever. And their conversation style is somehow highly engaging despite being casual.

@@NeilPasricha1 That whole Kurt Vonnegut segment definitely stood out for me. Scheinert pointing out that "Breakfast of Champions" is _supposed_ to be kinda silly and absurd, but still communicate themes that are very serious and real, is something that is uncannily reminiscent of Everything Everywhere All at Once. I've only ever read one of Vonnegut's books (Slaugherhouse-Five), and along with the trippy sequences in that book, I'm only now realizing how much Vonnegut influenced the Daniel's entire filmography (especially their latest movie). Also, that whole discussion of sex and sexuality was a lot more interesting than I had expected. Sex isn't a subject I feel comfortable discussing, so I was pleasantly surprised by how insightful and funny that whole segment was.

@@rapidreaders7741 Yeah, it's fascinating to dig up the influences. They unsurprisingly put a ton of thought into their book picks in advance which is always a great sign. I've only read "Breakfast of Champions" and "Cats Cradle" and still haven't quite got into him -- although I absolutely loved "If This Isn't Nice, What Is" which is this incredible collection of Vonnegut's commencement speeches. We were lucky they were so open around the discussion around monogamy / polyamory and it almost felt (to me) like one of those conversations that maybe feels awkward today and "so yesterday" sort of soonish ... "Sex at Dawn" was such a mind-blowing read. Had never heard it before this chat and it was so fascinating -- highly recommend it.

I was surprised to find Sex at Dawn on their 3 book choice. I read this book when it was 1st published and had a conversation with Christopher. I read this book aloud to my lover at the time which led us to more intimacy and beautiful orgasmic adventure. I'm in London but my home is San Francisco and the peninsula. My last lover and I read the book aloud together and my long sex life began with my learning what love is and meant. My last lover is/was the unquestionable love of my life for such of a wealth of profound reasons. The day I saw EEAAO I bought the dvd to be delivered to her and am waiting for her to return from her month's work in Thailand to watch EEAAO because I have unconditional altruistic love forever even after my death because the die is cast. She may/may not come back to me and paradise (in the Catherine and William Blake definition) but the time together with her was the high point of my/our life. An only child of parents that did not want children and did nit love her. Her mother verbally told her that! I am the only sapiens who loves her with a true profound love. I wish her well. We have to be kind. We're here to love and be loved. EEAAO will hit her hard in a beautiful way, I am sure. It's not guaranteed.
