Agreed on that last bit. Nothing quite like running. It’s amazing how just something as simple as running can clear the mind and really put you in this mode where you feel like you’re in control. In my opinion you got the right mindset, don’t compare to anyone else and ideally just be as consistent as possible. Glad you’re getting that ability back slowly and it’ll come fully eventually I feel. Rooting for you Brodie. 🙏

Thank you for sharing this, mate. It shows how everybody has a small inner struggle with something, even if you apparently look like a model role, good physique, good vibes, inspiring others, etc...Even you can have something that makes you suffer and that's ok and make us feel motivated to keep pursuing our goals as you are, even in your highs and lows. You are an inspiration, Daniel. ✌🏻

Hi Daniel, thank you for the message at the end, it really resonates with me as I had dislocated my shoulder at the end of last year while bouldering and everything has never been the same since in terms of doing to activities like boxing or lifting weights…. it really messes with you mentally and it is nice to know that I am not alone. I too have been lazy with my rehab but hearing your speech have motivated me to start from scratch and be discipline, taking one step at a time. I wish you well and hope that in time to come we can be doing activities we love again!

Completely get the running thing. Tore my ACL and meniscus in high school. Found running as a post collage way to disconnect and be competitive with myself. Ended up running a marathon then got injured. As a better than avarage athlete (at least in high school) I looked at everything as a competition and or "training". As I get older i still care about being competitive but I feel less need to be competitive with others. Just be better than you were yesterday. Lastly. Try to get out of the city and do some trail running activates a completely different muscle group and weirdly helps my knee.

Really felt this one. Had a really similar experience where I ended up with runners knee and haven't been able to run since. I used to run to clear my head and as you say there's really nothing like running. I've been trying to cycle but it's not the same. I'm not back to running yet but hope to be one day. Wishing you a full recovery. Keep at it man 💪

Catching up on your videos bro! To touch on the end bit, perspective is everything. I think it’s easy to get caught up in how great everyone else is doing and see only the positive experiences they share. I have no clue what it is but with your videos, I find myself inspired. Rather than just comparing my life to how glamorous yours is, I find myself motivated to achieve. Sorry for the ramble but always appreciate your content and your genuineness!

I understand you with the running and knee injury. I got my first "serious" injury on my knee now (not remotely bad as yours) and I feel so down that I can't run. I ran all winter in shit weather but now when the sun in finally here I can't go out and enjoy it. This also made me realize how big part of my life running is. For my mental and for my enjoyment. When you talk about comparing you make great points. My biggest issue is I'm comparing myself to how much and good I could run two or three years ago compared to now. Great vid and I hope your knee gets better and better!

Hi, after hearing you talk about the relationship with running and how you can’t give it up, bc of the way you feel during and after the run I thought you could check out swimming. I do both but swimming gives me the feeling of meditating while moving my body, maybe it will be useful for you as it does not burden the joints.

Loving your content. I suffer with my knee terribly with multiple surgery’s. I went to see a physio who prescribed really basic calf, hamstring, quad (like the ones you do at school), calf raises, standing on one leg for 5 minutes and it’s changed things completely for me. I’m sure it’s a lot more than that but it’s worth a try. I ran a marathon today!

Daniel, have a similar problem, I really feel you. I do triathlon and all of a sudden started to experience a big back button pain. I’ve been having this problem since last August and had to stop doing exercise at all. These months I have been doing some rehabilitation and I do swim and cycle. However I still cannot run. I totally understand the feeling. Running is such a mental break from daily life and it is hard to find something that makes you feel the same. At last that is what happens to me. Really hope your knee goes well.

Hi Daniel. It depends what you’re after. If it’s the best possible sound, then an amp and a set of bookshelf speakers will give you that, but it’s a bit of hustle. However if you’re after a bit of style and still get an amazing sound, then you can’t go wrong with a sonos system. Probably a beam gen 2 and sub mini will be a good start. The sonos system will also allow you to grow your system and add some more speakers in the other rooms. Hope this helps.

Sonos speakers are phenomenal. They are extremely easy to setup and operate. They connect to your WiFi and you can link various speakers together wirelessly. They look sleek and the sound quality is unmatched. You can easily build out a system by purchasing just the soundbar, then a sub, and remote speakers. During house parties, I’ll remove the satellite speakers (that I use for surround sound) and throw them around different parts of the house to have a constant flow so music.

fantastic video, i loved it! i’d recommend getting the sonos play 5 studio pair along with their sub and and a sound bar from sonos as well (use play 5’s as surround sound). the play 5’s give you HiFi audio and their app is very intuitive and user friendly. the app has a feature where you can turn the speakers to your specific room as well. if you want to add more speakers throughout the apartment say in the kitchen or bedroom, you can sync them on the app and play music throughout your space. i believe there is no better set up you can get. hope this helps!!!

Hearing you talk about the way running makes you feel but you are held back by your injury, I know it can definitely be scary or hard to pickup, but something that gives that same feeling without all the joint pain(it can actually help joints) is swimming! I have been a runner and a swimmer all my life and I really struggle with running due to past injuries but swimming has filled that void for me. You will feel INCREDIBLE after a good swim session and it’s a full body workout! Cannot recommend it more. Never too late to pick it up!

*Totally* sympathise about the knee - I've had 2 arthroscopies on my left knee, and years later, it's impacting my training in a very big way. Running is one thing that it messes up, and I've had/have long-term issues with my calves and my Achilles (i.e. tendonitis). Can't squat, so it's difficult to weight train my legs. I used to be a club swimmer; I was a 100m breaststroker. My breaststroke kick was my biggest strength, and now obviously that's gone to complete sh*t also, although it's not affected my butterfly noticeably. So yeah, totally with you on that one.

After 2 surgeries and lots of rehab it’s still not the same as before, it’s “unfair” somehow, my friends who never did sports can run without issues and if i do 2km i start feeling poking😅. Rehab did help but consistency is the hard part, I hope you will get better!

Been in the same place with injuries or breaks from training many times. Totally agree to focus on the micro improvements, but also to two additional things: trust in the process (especially good if you have a coach or similar) and to always remember that you are comparing yourself to the small percentage of people who are doing what you do. When compared to the mass who never run or try a new sport, you are in the absolute top percentage. A bit like mourning the last 100m of a climb and forgetting the 4,000m you’ve already climbed to get there. Anyway that’s how I convince myself I’m not shit 😂
