Dr. Sugai Compares: Cetaphil vs Equate Beauty Moisturizing Creams

Is Equate really comparable to Cetaphil as they advertise??
Proud to launch the first video of the new series "Dr. Sugai Compares..."
This was a requested topic and I headed on down to Walmart to purchase these products with my own money. I am not sponsored by any company and here I do an honest comparison between these two moisturizing creams: Cetaphil vs Walmart's Equate Beauty (claims to be a fair comparison to Cetaphil).
As we enter the cooler fall season, moisturizers will be an important topic to discuss especially as dry skin/xerosis and eczema are so common.
Here, I look at ingredients (one product has a key ingredient that the other does not have!), texture/feel and price. Want to know which one I crown as the winner? Please watch until the end!

I LOVE “highend” vs drugstore videos. Dupe videos are awesome too. Just so we can find products that might literally be the same thing in a different bottle for WAY cheaper! Helps is make more informed purchases!

Thanks for this review! Cetaphil changed their formula twice and the equate ingredients are from the original moisturizing cream from when it used to be in the blue tub, which I lovedddd!! I did not like the added sunflower oil and change in formula. So glad I can get equate now!!

This is a great series, I really like that you’re promoting potential options for people who might not be able to afford more expensive drugstore items. Kroger has an Invisible Gel sunscreen that’s supposed to be a dupe of the Supergoop Unseen sunscreen. And it’s only 10.99! I moved away from Supergoop since it’s so expensive and if you’re using the product regularly and correctly you run through it way too fast, but I would consider this Kroger option if the ingredients match up well enough! Thanks :)

I think the equate version is based off the old formula of cetaphil. I remember using it back in the day when it had a blue lid and I’m pretty sure it only had almond oil in it. Either way it’s been one of the best moisturizer I’ve ever used!

Doctor Daniel! I am so glad you made a review about this. My mom just gave me a tub of cetaphil cream at a discounted price from costco, claiming that it's better than cerave in the tub. (She's probably pissed off at me because I keep on raving about the cerave one lol). Well, we'll see about that. I also read from the comment section below that you are researching about asian sunscreens which made me excited! I am also researching about them right now and I plan to make a comment about this in the future on your previous sunscreen videos since it would be off topic here. Noctowl123 you’re the best! I am curious to hear your thoughts on cetaphil vs cerave! Lol to the Cerave excitement you have 😂. The world of asian skin care is one that we do not get exposed to in dermatology residency but I am excited to delve in. I like the Equate version but my preference was Target's Up & Up moisturizing cream. (Which I didn't notice, had Sunflower seed and Sweet Almond oils). Sadly, I haven't found any in months.

Just got the Cetaphil at Costco . Then started the Neutrogena grey jar of retinol and got a retinol burn. This stuff really is great for healing. I just use gentle wash and then apply it to my face and it feels so good. It is my new fav!

Excellent comparison! I'm always dying to know how the store brand does alongside the real thing. I get the Cetaphil cream when it goes on sale at Costco (excellent price) but it's good to know this is a fine sub if I run out. Thanks!

Love these kind of videos! I'm always curious if I'm paying more for no reason for the name brand product. Are Korea/Japanese sunscreens as protective as mineral spfs?

I love the equate brand, more than the walgreens brand. I use equate gentle lotion for my facial moisturizer, and equate hydrating cleanser. i wont even try anything else.
