Megaphones are used in concerts to transmit music thousands of feet, they can also be found in emergency broadcasting systems such as the infamous sound of the "tornado siren".
I compare a megaphone to a speaker phone by testing the audio, analyzing the differences in sound quality, frequency an loudness, and then dissembling the megaphone piece by piece. I momentarily stop to test a song along the way to determine how each cone or bell affects the sound until we are at the megaphone's core.
Turn on your mono(2) speaker setup and experience what makes a megaphone tick.

Atlas Sound makes some of the best speakers out there. I use two of those same horns in my room (I have high ceilings) and they sound great!

This is cool because working in a kitchen or factory floor, most bassy sounds get drowned out anyway. It would be good for work for sure

nice diaphragm, it's just like some of the high end mid-range horn drivers out there.

That top ring is not a magnet, its a steel pole piece, used to transmit the magetic force to the voice coil gap. Standard design in speakers.

Excellent video and explanation of the working of parts. You should have placed the central cone over the mini cone and then the bell over the central cone with the music playing. That would have demonstrated the amplification of sound by each segment.

Awesome and thank you for sharing. If you would take all the short horn segments and put them in a straight line, you would end up with essentially, you guessed it... a long horn which would be awkward to carry around. That's probably why they segmented it.

What I would do is find where audio goes into the amplifier of the bullhorn and inject your audio from your phone into that. It will be a lot louder. If you do this, use a radio or a player you don't care about and put the ground wire on the negative battery and the + positive side briefly start touching points on the amp chip and if you hear music loudly you have the right point. I did this with a mega mike toy from the 90s. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hamWgWZ5d9trprM

The reason the speakers are not loud is because you need an AMPLIFIER. When you test them, you don’t directly hook it up to your phone

i wonder why the sound isnt lost through all of the reflection.
@kharnakcrux2650

it's a simple folded horn design, there's no reflection. the width of the horn throat is never wider than a wavelength... and by the time it reaches the opening, all the waves are pretty much going in the same direction. some of the really high frequencies do get lost. but this design can also be extended to folded bass horns too. i've built them. and am a huge fan of them for efficiency.
