Great comeback. Him winning in Rome was a particularly surprising event in the last few years lol. But it's a little disappointing that he didn't do so well in the hard court season, which is supposed to be his strongest. Hopefully next year will be an even better season.

Medvedev vs Nadal in the 2019 US Open final in the 5th set at 2-2 in one of the deuce points was very notable. Medvedev starting serving with almost 2 to 3 seconds left in the shot clock and Nadal put his hand up signaling he was not ready. Medvedev served an ace. Seems like Nadal took away that ace from Medvedev. Did not like that move from Nadal and lost respect for Nadal. Seems like Medvedev got hard done there.

It's a pity Tennis TV can't show GSs cause his semis vs Alcaraz had so many great points. I wrote it back then, that in my opinion it was the best match for Meddy in 2023. He didn't just played "brick wall" mode. He was developing from the start of the year a new mode- "Attacking break wall" and the pinnacle of this he showed in this semifinal. Carlos was stunned. He probably thought- well i beat this guy in IW so fast & easy,....he can't defend my drop shots+ serve&volley game. And Meddy from the first game was ready gor it. He was running, defending and most crucial- attacking so good and precise, that at one moment i thought: Yo he is playing like mafia have stolen his daughter and said- If you lose to Alcaraz, you will lose her.....we bet on your win a few millions! P.S: Btw i just love his daughter, she is so a father's daughter in the way she looks and smiles like him. And she is already a star that should have her own IG account. Only 3 vids with her and a couple of pictures already made her famous. So be ready to see her more next year!..Meddy would be under her fame shadow 😁

Social media generally reacts to his personality off the court - press conferences and post-mactch interviews and such. In these settings he's much more composed, mature, and funny. On the court Medvedev's emotions seem to get the better of him and he can be a real asshole, hence why actual crowds might dislike him more than social media.

It is really unbelievable that caused by today‘s racket technology a player with such a restricted reportoire, no variations, monotonous game plus really horrible technique can be so successful.
