Medvedev has basically limped his way into the final. He's definitely not been at his best but his mental strength has been right up there with Djokovic and Nadal and that's really saved him. Coming back from 0-2 down twice is quite amazing, and getting through a total of three 3-setters is impressive. I'm not sure how much he'll have left in the tank for Sinner but big respect to him whatever happens.

Zverev didn't get a day of rest either, so what are you whining about? The two players that got a day of rest played in one semifinal and those that didn't played in the other. This is the fairest way of aligning a schedule (and this alignment needs to take place given that the top half of their draw plays their matches on the odd days and the bottom half of the draw plays their matches onthe even days upuntil the quarterfinals.) @@Shiggystardust

TBH, I never really looked forward to his matches, but I love Medvedev now and can see why he is so respected in this game. The look he gave the young boy (coin tosser I think) at the start of the match was very heart warming. He wanted to show the boy lots of love and make him comfortable. We need more people like Medvedev in this world. I think he’ll be outclassed by Sinner on Sunday but it’ll be one heck of a match and it seems like you can never count Medvedev out until the match is actually over

I hoped, that this year WTA/ATP/ITF, would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics. Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth. Appointing "flag police" at the AO 2023 was not even childish... it was embarrassing and insane... Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag? USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq. Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them. Interestingly enough Israeli tennis players Mika Buchnik and Guy Sasson are allowed to play under the national flag in AO 2024 despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza. * All wars are equal, but some wars are more equal than others.
