History in 3D

2 жыл бұрын

We invite you to expore our 3D reconstruction of famous baths of Caracalla - one of the most magnificent and enormous buildings of ancient Rome. During the 13 minutes we will walk around outside and inside, and visit the most interesting locations - open swimming pool, cold, warm and hot baths, as well as enjoy walking in the gardens outside.
Our goal is to create the most extensive, detailed and accurate virtual 3D reconstruction of the Eternal City. And this reconstruction is one of the most important parts of it. We're presenting the 2.0 edition (the 1.0 was long ago, in 2012), and I hope we have done much improvement in accuracy and realistic details of the baths. However, it is not the final result for sure, we will be improving this 3D reconstruction further, correcting something, adding details, according with the new data investigations.

I have visited the remains of the Baths of Caracalla and found them to be magnificent and extremely impressive. This reconstruction puts some flesh on the bones and really shows off what incredible designers, architects and builders the Romans were. Even if the images of the wall coverings here are not completely accurate, they still give an idea of what the Baths would have looked like.

Wanting to profit is natural for all eras including that of ancient rome. The reason is that people back then couldn’t get away with ugliness because it was deemed immoral. Perhaps we should embrace this ideal today as well.

That's Roman architecture for you, they don't fail to impress and leave you awestruck. Style and aesthetics are key to its success. The golden ratio, which is used in ancient classical architecture is akin to Feng Sui, I reckon, since it looks and feels naturally balanced. Also, the bold and monumental style reflects Roman confidence, dominance, ability, and most of all, power. Architecture is ideal propaganda, even if it's subliminal.

@@deanronson6331 what germanic tribes?, this building was abandoned and buried slowly because of the destruction of the aqueduct that suministrated water to these baths and later sacked in the renaissance and the cause of the destruction of Rome as a big city is in great part fault of the eastern romans that invaded italy without enought troops and cause one of the most destructive wars in the early middle ages, then when they finally took the city and Italy after many years of war didn't repair the aqueducts that the ostrogoths destruyed in the siege of the year 537-38, Rome was part of the eastern empire from Justinian to Charlemagne (almost 250 years) and the eastern empire did nothing for the city, when it was part of the Ostrogoth kingdom Rome (around 480-537) was a prosper city of half million people and fall to a big town just around 15000 to 25000 after the stupid war that Justinian did.

@@josefmaster1188 You think you can find readers idle enough to read your history lesson? Besides, word on the street is that the Penn Station was destroyed by Gaetulians and Garmulians.

Complimenti sinceri a "History in 3D". Questi lavori sono incomparabilmente i più belli che si possono vedere. Non esiste un altro che possa competere. Ora aspettiamo l'interno completo del Palazzo Imperiale del Palatino.
