If Mary confronted Catherine when she returned to Hawaii 3 years after she broke Steve's heart by lying of where she was going, would Mary get angry at her, because Mary was angry when she found out her mother let her children believe she was killed in a car bombing and Catherine didn't think of hurting Steve's sister by leaving Hawaii under false pretenses. Mary would've liked to be the maid of honor at Steve's wedding.
