The fuel in the red bottels is "Cleaner's naphtha" its realy pure and burns with almost no smoke, its why they can use it inside the tent freely

3:35 There's an older Sirius video (primarily focused on selection and training, but also a bit of patrolling) where one team has a sled weighing 350 kg with 9 days of food.

Regarding supplies remember the first episode where they were distributing supplies during the summer. So whenever they reach a hut, they resupply

I remember in the Top Gear Polar Special, the dog sled lady used a kite and "surfed" on the snow in front of the dogs, that was so cool

I do not know if anyone has mentioned this, but kudos to the film crew. I'd be curious to see how they filmed this. It must have been a serious logistic operation in itself. It is an awesome achievement in itself. I notice they use MSR Whisperlights to cook and heat their tents (incidentally the same that I have personally used for cold weather since the 1980s. It is really good, efficient, dependable, light and easy to fix in the field without special equipment. I would guess they are using Jet B jet fuel as it does not freeze above -60C if memory serves me right. Normal jet fuel (A or A1 is perfect for "normies" who generally avoid leisure camping below minus 35C because DUH!) I can also see that they carry the "Jerven Fjellduken Extreme" bivouac. You will not be comfy in it alone below minus 10, but you will be in good survival mode with your polar-rated sleeping bag inside it if the tent rips apart or something else goes FUBAR.

There is a behind the scenes somewhere on KZbin on how it was filmed. It was linked to in a previous episode. It’s 1 man with a camera, drone etc. he rides on the sleigh most of the time. You can see when they break the sleigh he actually helps hold it up while still filming

tumb of rule is that the dogs pull their own weight or up to 40 kg; the sledges can weigh up to 400 kg. Look up Primus multifuel system that should explain the bottle system.

11:00 The stove and fuel bottle kits used in this video are MSR (Mountain Safety Research) WhisperLite International multi-fuel stoves made in Seattle, USA. Specifications from MSR: Burn time (kerosene) per 600ml / 20 oz. of fuel: Appx. 155 minutes Water boiled (kerosene) per 100 ml of fuel: 5.3 liters But The MSR is very similar system to the Swedish Primus MultiFuel /OmniFuel /OmniLite TI stove kits (made in Tartu, Estonia). Primus also uses red bottles, so they also look quite to MSR.

Though guys. Do you know that the Danish King has done the Sirius full Tour? Before that he was a elite frogman soldier, the toughest soldiers in the Danish army/navy.

That's why he can weep as much as he likes (Danes used to call him The Weeping Prince, affectionately) NO one can ever call him a sissy! Crossing the Inland Ice is just the most macho macho-thing, you can do!

How do they keep their liquids unfrozen, working in negative 20 all day, do they have some sort of thermo pockets for their flasks?
