I was fortunate to be able to watch them perform for the Melbourne Chamber Music Society in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida last night. Their performance included Beethoven, Debussy & Mendelssohn masterpieces. Seeing these guys live was incredible. This lovely bridal music was also an encore gift to the audience. It levitated them with Danish cultural pride It was a stunning performance that I will never forget.

It is so amazing to me how this beautiful danish folk tune is so similar to old world Celtic music, but then maybe I shouldn't be considering the ancient connectivity between the two cultures. Beautiful!

I was lucky enough to see it performed live as an encore (2nd one for that matter) no longer than an hour ago at Poznan's Q'arto Mondi Festival. The performance simply left me astounded... After an hour and a half of classical music (ravishigly interpreted) it felt so refreshing. Never thought that folk music could be my cup of tea (although I seem to rember listening to many similar pieces in my 'music history' that I wouldn't necessarilly classify as folk genre) I was so stunned with this piece (and the next one that comes after that; yeah as a 3rd encore - they were that GOOD that night) that I just couldn't help myself and I went to the group backstage and asked them for the name of it. And I'm sure as hell glad I did it (even though it turned out that it wouldnt be a problem to find it via their youtube channel). Still, thank you guys for introducing me to this kind of music (and for the Allegro from Beethoven String Quartet in C-minor)

It's folk music, you learn it by ear - and playing it, until you get it!! If you wanna cheat though, there's a (cheat-)sheet book on Fanø which contains almost all their folk melodies - but without the lovely little twists and turns, just the cold numbers. Enjoy! :) Fanø is just on the West Coast of Jutland (Jylland), and you sail there from Esbjerg. Get in touch with Peter Urhbrandt - a-maze-ing folk musician. Already typing too much - enjoy; again!

Oh I bet there's some lovely English or Irish walzes you can dance to - not that this is any bad!! I just have a love for British and Irish folk music. ;D Maybe it's the "Western Mystique", coming over me, the Danish/German guy. :P Well, I hope you choose this, but there's so many lovely walzes. Maybe something written by Denmark's own Harald Haugaard. Maybe "Den Sødeste Vals," or "Vals(en) Til Kærligheden." Gotta tell you, he's amazing. Well, I already typed way too much. Enjoy! :D

Godt at se dig skrive, Maria. ;D Tak for nytårskoncert(er) med SAS og Hr. Vigilius.
