Look guys, in stead of pointing out the obvious, (No! a shirt with holes are not keeping you warm! No! plastic is not comfy to wear) we should start to come up with ideas how to ideate and iterate on this! Example for the holiday/business trip idea: what if.... you take a profile photo of yourself, upload your scanned measurements on the hotel platform and you will have a new wardrobe when you arrive. When you leave, they just reuse the material for new guests...? Great inspiration @Danit Peleg, love where you going - thank you for sharing!! :D

Am I the only one who has noticed that she does not seem to understand that a jacket with holes is not ideal for winter weather. And how are you supposed to print your own clothes while travelling, is there going to be a 3D printer in every hotel from now on? This seems far from perfection to me, but good effort.
@danpeguine9 жыл бұрын
Aidar Amangeldiyev I think that when she says "just imagine the potential", she means that conceptually - yes, you can't 3D print your clothes in your hotel room *today*, but this is something that *may* happen in the future.

***** I was mainly pointing out that your reasoning is flawed. Just because someone did it before wouldn't mean anything. And this is more science then fashion. With more time and study you don't know what will be possible with this discovery. She made it possible with what she could and it'll help future development in the future. You don't know what this will bring forth so hush down.

In that logic, why do you were cloth in hot weather?
@neeeeeck90058 жыл бұрын
Shevi Bertman cause people have something called "norms", that was estabilishing hundreds of years, at home i don't wear anything except underwear when it's hot, but i should wear outside, i'd be glad if these "norms" were destroyed and i could wear anything i like. same goes to women, why women should hide their nipples if men don't? now u will say that women have big boobs thats why, i will say, some men also have big boobs, and some women also don't have big boobs. fuck "norms".

While its cool.. and all that, of course we won't be making this in the future ourselves... why? cause we have been able to do this for ages with sewing and fabrics.. and still the majority of the worlds population go to a store to buy a t-shirt! ;P (and sewing and fabrics are way easier than 3d design & printing with the right equipment and filaments.. and in the end.. wool or any other fabric is always warmer and more skin protective) ;) The concept in its own right.. is freaking cool!.. don't take me wrong. Im getting my first 3d printer now.. and will start having my own share of fun.. though I don't think I'll be in the fashion industry.. I may design shoes or accessories and jewellery, although I'll focus more in musical instruments, prototyping products (anything goes here), and well.. will see what the future brings me! No matter what... +Danit Peleg you did a great graduation work. (maybe the future brings more possibilities, like micro-3d-filament to print denser "fabric-like" clothes, and theres already Hemp filament!.. (ok, PLA+Hemp).. the day printing nozzles can work with micro-filaments, we could be making our own "normal" fabrics to then sew or glue together!.. :D Good luck on your endeavour.

Noticing a lot of negativity in the comments about practicality. 3D printing is still limited to "solid" materials like plastic and metals at the moment - so 3D printing using traditional textiles isn't going to happen till the printers can use them. However, that shouldn't downplay the 1000s of hours of trial and error it would take to print something like seen in the video. Just because we can't see the perfect result today, doesn't mean we can't visualize the potential of the technology - which is the purpose of the video.
