United Wa State Army (abbreviated - UWSA), an armed wing of United Wa State Party (UWSP), is the most powerful ethnic armed organization based in northern Myanmar with more than 30,000 active personnel and thousands of auxiliary troops. They separated from Communist Party Burma (CPB) in 1989, and had a peace-talk with Myanmar government, which in turn enacted an area called 'Special Region-2' for them. Since establishing an autonomous region, they focused on strengthing their armed force. Their standard rifle is Type-81 (Wa variant) which they produce themselves in their controlled-area, also known as ' Special Region-2 ' in Myanmar. As of now, they own a substantial amount of Manpads primarily being FN-6, and other anti-aircraft weapon. They also maintain close-ties with China.
