The fact you can open any DankPods video without ever having watched any other, and understand what he is speaking about is insane. A little tip from an HD 58x owner: take out the foam on the outward-facing side of the drivers. This mod improves the cans by literal miles. To get the foam out, you take off the pads and the foam its resting against, take a long, thin implement like a screwdriver and put it through one of the holes on the cups, and then carefully push the metal mesh out from the earcup. Just take the foam out of the mesh, put the mesh back in, and re-install the pads. When I first got the 58x's, it sounded like I was listening to music with socks over my ears. Then I did this mod and the detail just picked right up, it's great.
@MegaPhill932 жыл бұрын
a hero pop out of nowhere
@taimurjamil47902 жыл бұрын
I would argue otherwise. While taking the foam out might improve the sound (subjective), it would be at the cost of exposing your headphone drivers to dust and what not. Worse case scenario, you accidentally knock off your drink and some of it enters the driver. The foam is there for a reason. Now, you could argue then why the HD600 doesn't have a foam as well? my answer is that the exposed driver is well protected by its inner plastic housing.
@doritos65482 жыл бұрын
Nah, sound wise it doesn't do anything. Sennheiser confirmed this, in their massdrop forum they mentioned how the foam is acoustically invisible. The foam makes no difference to the sound, it is only there to protect against dust and other yucky stuff.

I have several pairs of the Samson SR850, and I'm a fan. Inexpensive with a great sound. I've found that buying aftermarket pads improves comfort immensely. The stock pads are not very tall, and your larger listeners may have their ears pressed against the driver housing. Aftermarket pads widen the soundstage further, are way more comfortable, and look much better.

Some personal recommendations of mine for those wanting to get started on audio: The Philips SHP9500 & SHP9600 I personally prefer the 9500s because they have a more balanced sound and they're less expensive but the pads are slightly more shallow. Although not that it matters, because both of these are the most comfortable thing to graze your ears and or head. Final e2000 Weirdly enough, openback in ears! Very rare you find buds like these. Yes they bleed and that kinda defeats the purpose of in ears but honestly, they're so close to your ear that you'll only be able to hear what someone's listening to if the room is dead silent and they're blasting their music. The cable is also kinda crappy and not replaceable. Sennheiser HD 559s Not much to say about these. Very pleasing sounding and balanced headphone and in my opinion, a bit more budget friendly and over all a better value than the Sennheiser hd58x in my opinion if you want a true budget option. Like any other Sennheiser, hard clamping force out of the box and pads you have to replace yearly. But overall a great headphone.
