Let's just throw this out there. "I Begin To Wonder" was the original track, it was mashed up with Dead or Alive to create a bootleg. Because it became popular, the label got permission to officially release it. It's not stolen - it's a cleared sample/mash-up.

You have it in reverse: Dead Or Alive came first, Danni's song was clocked immediately for copying "You Spin Me's" melody, so someone made a bootleg mashup (which she is lip-synching to here). I'm not sure if it got clearance to be officially released and sold though. But live performance rights are way different than publishing rights etc.

"I Begin to Wonder" was an original track released in 2002 in Europe by a producer called JCA. Dannii's re-recording came in March 2003 and was a hit in the UK, and within weeks the mashup circulated on P2P. It's definitely cleared and licensed, and was released in Europe as the main single version under the name Dannii VS Dead or Alive in Summer 2003. I think you've just slightly misunderstood the wording above, there's a bit of a perception that "I Begin to Wonder" always had the DoA instrumental and that was the UK version, when it was never on the UK singles, only on the club promos and didn't get released here until 2007.

The reason she is lip syncing is because I Begin To Wonder was only half decent because they filtered her vocals so much. Singing live would've just ruined it and reminded everyone what an awful sounding voice she has. As a pop star there is just no need for her and no market, as has been proven time and again with flop after flop.
