As tempting as it would be to explain your side of the story or try to convince the police of your innocence, you should NEVER talk to detectives without your attorney. We’re not talking to you to find out if you did it. We’re talking to you to give you a chance to be remorseful so when this footage goes to the jury, you don’t look like a monster.” One detective was telling the truth and the suspect tried to call his bluff and ended up looking like a monster. And the other detective was completely bluffing and got the suspect to confess. But both detectives had the same cadence. Same demeanor. Same everything. There was no way to tell if they were lying or not. Also I’m not sure that you only get a public defender after being arrested. It’s in the Miranda rights that are read to you even if you’re not under arrest…

@ccchhhrrriiisss1003 жыл бұрын
@Anthony Lamar - I agree. While I do think that most individuals who are ultimately charged with crimes are guilty, there are instances where law enforcement feels pressured to charge the "most likely" suspect. Personally, I believe that police reform should start at a state level and effectively restrict law enforcement from LYING in their attempts to pressure suspects into confessions. They do this to apply pressure on someone who is sitting in a room (often for hours) to "confess." However, this has strong mental pressure in which the questioned individual might be looking for the least damaging way out of a situation. It's strange that a lie told by a defendant is used in court to call into question a defendant's moral code or believability. However, few people call into question certain dishonest tactics used by law enforcement in attempting to solicit a confession. I've seen videos like this where a person was questioned and told that a partner testified against them (which wasn't even true). Law enforcement needs to be constrained by civility. If a person can be charged for lying to officers, then officers shouldn't be allowed to lie to suspects.

It's funny how the detectives always tell you what your rights are, and then try every trick in the book to cause you to waive them. Most of these interrogations are not to find the truth, it is to build their cases against the person they are interrogating. That is why it is so important to exercise your right to remain silent and to make sure you verbally invoke that right. It is a lie for them to say that only a guilty person wouldn't want to talk. Another crazy thing to think about is that they are always trying to "get to the truth" by lying to get it. This dude, guilty or not guilty, should have stopped at, "you can prove it in court."

@breAnnasmama3 ай бұрын
Exactly.. people don’t always consider that in most cases, they have what they need and as long as they have the cooperation from/ suspect talking where there’s any more ammo they can use from the interview to dispute anything against the evidence, they’ll continue to talk and try to punch holes in the alibi. People often think the investigators are going to just show all their cards or that they are asking questions bc they don’t have the answers already .. sometimes it’s the case, as not every suspect is being interviewed bc there’s been a warrant against them to bring them in… many times, they have people voluntarily come in and talk and doesn’t mean they don’t already have a case solidly built against a suspect either though… but sometimes they’re able To go ahead without suspects admission or testimony & sometimes they’re having a case that’s mostly built on circumstantial evidence where having more info is always going to be their main objective and their best interest to have more solid evidence, especially when it’s still a lot of circumstantial evidence being able to be presented.

Having them sit alone for a long period of time is a tactic used by investigators, and there is likely an investigator watching the video monitor in real time as the suspect sits there. The investigators watching the room while he just sits there are picking up his body language ques and are setting up their plan of attack in terms of how they are going to approach the suspect and what techniques they are going to use. The suspects mind is racing during this time, which plays a role in how they respond to questions. Watch the body language during the prolonged wait, it tells a million tales to those who know body language. The brain is an amazing thing, great investigators know how to play the brain.
