I am not surprised at all to see Anthony Mundine's superb skill and abilities as a boxer, neither the levels that he has reached in the sport...I am actually surprised that there are not far more Indigenous Australian boxers represented as it is, as I have witnessed many skilled Indigenous fighters and boxers during my time in that amazing country, and known quite a few of them personally along the way. Theirs is a physically hardened and tough heritage, and the warrior spirit indeed remains strong among these peoples. Big respect to my brothers and sisters in the Great Southern Land.

Quite sad that many don’t make the transition. Probably a few hundred quality boxers out there but apparently they generally don’t like the complexities of life in professionalism.

Mundine was high quality at this stage. He stands very much like mayweather, maybe with hands a little lower, but rolls body and counter punches so fast. Would have been a nightmare to box against.

He always had a very weak chin, but when he was younger he was so fast and had heaps of power in his punches no fighter would dare do a full power swing at him unless he countered. Plus he was so quick on his feet probably one of the fastest ever on his feet in boxing because of his rugby league training. That most of the time he just needed to run away in the ring to keep good defense. Some people felt this showed a lack of skill but I think it showed his natural ability.

My first time seeing this fight and second time seeing Mundine fight. The one similar thing about both fights was the commentary. It was biased that stood out for me, all Mundine from start to finish. This happens a lot in this game most especially if the fighters are contracted to the TV station for so many fights. Often watched a whole fight card and i could tell who was contracted most of the time. Also gold medal winners, they are treated as cash cows and protected by the system, right down to the ref in the ring. Ward imho is the very worst example of this biased racket. This is how fucked up the buisness of the fight game has become and most of the time i mute the fight so i don't have to listen to absolute horse shit. I go to my favourite tube commentors and get their rap on it This fight was a good fight and am not tasking a victory from Mundine but i feel the first and second judges scores were spot on and Green is one hell of a fighter. All the best
@Will-nb8qk2 жыл бұрын
Green was throwing them but very low % land rate. Mundine basically picked him off time after time so not sure of bias. Green was horrible here or maybe Mundine’s evasive skill made him look that way.

***** mundine in 06 07 and 08 was a very good fighter. thats when he went 12 with kessler beat danny green and knocked out sam soliman. in 2009 he started to go down in weight and thats when he started losing. he was to fast for supermiddle but now he has lost his power at light middle and relies on his ring experience and defence. I’m not saying he would have beat the elite fighters but he would have gave them a good go and some exciting fights

Calzagie v Mundine would have been a good fight, but this was the time of the Lacy fight for Joe and his peak. I'd have had my money on Joe, but that doesn't mean Anthony wouldn't have had a good chance. That jab and overhand right were not to be underestimated, but Joe had durability, strength and skills which I reckon would have given him the edge.

Dirty Pete There is a reason for weight class..Green was after Mundine...you dont like your fighter going down in weight but in your second breath you want the fighter you dont like to go up...If Mundine had fought up in weight he would have knocked Danny out. A drop in 10 Kg doesnt make you lose your skills. He was completely outboxed.

I haven't seen these 2 fight before, but for all the baggers throughout his career, well in this fight Anthony was awesome. Also get real promoters while you count all your cash, who was in charge of the stupid slippery crazy john sign. Serious...leading up to a world title fight, and you got this...oh that's right, let's make sure we got the hot looking girls, and then the rest will fall into place. For all your lip Danny post this fight, you should be humble, because sir, you got well beaten. Good luck to both of you men for your future.

neither of them are good boxers, Green's boxing lacks intelligence and there isn't much to it except hard hitting, Mundine is good at counter with the jab and rolling punches but has not many other skills especially no lateral angles or hook to the body. He is uncomfortable at close range.

+MELLOW MUSIC How does critiquing their boxing ability imply that they are a better boxer than Mundine and Green? That's like asking the judges to step in the ring and fight to determine the winner. This dude could be a professional boxing trainer who just calls it like he sees it, but no, they have to show they're better than them in a fight according to you to give any analysis on their fighting technique and faults. Experts and judges were rarely ever at the top of their athletic field... "champ."
@mellowmusic99598 жыл бұрын
Two demonstrably different things. Judges are professional judges not professional boxers. Nonetheless they are professionals. When a moron questions the boxing ability of world class fighters, title holders and an Olympian (Green) the obvious thing is to questions their credentials. On what basis to they draw their opinions? Or do we just let it ride and take something written as factual just because it is written? FFS

Since when has advertising been more important than the welfare of the athletes?. I have never seen such a ridiculous concept of putting a vinyl sign anywhere on a canvas mat. Green was loaded up a couple of times and slipped when he was about to unload, I'm not saying it was a game changer, but who knows?. Mundine fought a great fight, but seriously, how can anyone be sure of anything when you have the fighters concentrating on where they are standing the whole time they are fighting?. Being worried about falling or slipping is not something either boxer should be concerned about, they have enough on their minds without having to worry about the fucking greedy pricks who are putting them at risk for the sake of a dollar.
