This series of Danny Kaye shows at the London Palladium was my parents' first date. My Mum, who worked at the same office as my Dad, just happened to have a "spare" ticket for the show and casually mentioned that to my father, who she'd barely spoken to before. Fancy that. They were married for 62 years until my Dad passed three years ago. So I can thank Danny Kaye for my being alive. And who knows, this song might have been the first time they held hands. They were married within months of this show.

WHY..... is this, apparently simple song and performance, Just Magic. Pure charisma and presence. They really don't make 'em like this any more

No kidding. He can put more into one and a half minutes than most performers today can put into an entire concert.

Swoooooooon!!!!. My mother saw him at the London Palladium in 1948. This is rehearsal footage. It's not from 1955 but 1948. She never forgot his charisma and charm. She would melt just remembering he evening. I still have the ticket.

I thought Danny was a nice looking fellow but here he seems so handsome and intriguing. He was a wonderful performer all the way around; singing, dancing, acting, and no one can top his word performances or be faster.

I had the same reaction. "Sexy" is not a word I ever associated with his movies. I like this Danny better than the guy in the movies. LOL And he's so cute when he says "thank you".

Marry me. What's that? He's dead? And was happily married? And has a daughter? And wasn't gay? And neither am I? Shoot.

Lots of evidence, actually, that he swung both ways and had an affair with his great friend Larry Olivier - so don’t despair! 😉
