I think people are forgetting Albon and sargent crossed the line after checo and they qualified as well, he is in the fastest car, once or twice may be you can say strategy was wrong or bad luck but 5 times in row is just ridiculous, after Miami he wanted to prove something in Monaco and braked too late and wrecked his car, since then he has not been driving on limits in quali. Monaco damaged his confidence.
@The_Curious_Cat
@The_Curious_Cat Жыл бұрын
Yeah but to be fair in Silverstone he was screwed by the decision (either by him or the team) to go first in the line at the last go in that round of qualifying. Remember that even Max was at danger during that run, at one point he was out of qualifying. So Checo would only go to the next round if he was at the end of the line, not in front.

@@The_Curious_Cat Bruh Williams in a much slower car did exactly the same with Albon he was right behind Perez and he made it.. It's always something or someone's fault with this guy and it's getting repetitive and annoying, he never admits that it's his fault and always blames the team when he has a stinker.

Yea you cant have slip ups or errors when you KNOW you have a title contender car,i wouldve said sergio is smart if he stacked up p2in races he couldn’t win but he wants to beat max’s in q2 risking lap deletion despite being explicitly told get the banker in ,he chosoes to match max’s time only to be deleted and him being sent on 15 without having the chance to fight for pole, austria was silly,silverstone his pace was slow and he decided to wait out fof the red flag to end for a clean run,still couldn’t,he’s proved to slip it multiple times in the championship contending car and so i believe firmly checo will never be able to beat max over 5 consecutive races let alone a 24race long championship.

2020sound familiar when pierre gasly was out of rb for albon to get in the summer,it will happen in 2024 if and likely when checo doesn’t perform under more pressure and inevitably hands max a gap to championship lead on a silver plate,so by summer next year,daniel will be in the other redbull probably

It's not just scoring points it's also qualifying better than he should with that car. Albon was given the same grief when he was at Red Bull back in 2020. The difference is Checo has over 10 years of experience compared to Albon who is doing very well at Williams.

With Daniel probably now being at ease with being the number two it could work this time in if they actually go for him. IMO all three of them have an equal shot at the second seat next year. I would even say that Checo still has the high ground because his seasonstart was pretty damn strong. He just has to stop trying to beat Max on every occasion. Hungaroring should be a track that does suit him being the Monaco without walls that it is.

If Danny out qualifies or out races Sergio, that 2nd seat is his. Edit: I don’t think Nyck deserved to lose his seat, atleast not right now. Also, many are saying no chance that Danny can out quali/race Sergio but Yuki was 0.1 seconds behind Sergio in Silverstone. Sergio is 0.1 sec faster than the Alpha Tauri in the fastest car on the grid. The bar is so low.

I think this might not just be a straight-line for Danny Ric into Checos seat but might actually be more closely linked to the future changes they've described of getting the AT team closer to the main team. Danny might actually be exactly the driver they want in AT rebrand next year leading the team. I think there's potential that it plays out that you're basically having four Redbulls on the circuit and Danny is competing against Verstappen with his own team

Bernie is giving Checo way too many excuses. If Checo wasn't so bad recently, he wouldn't have been the first one out of the pits because he would've had a somewhat decent laptime set already, as seen with Max. Even with being the first one out, Albon was the car right behind him and made it to Q3 with no problem. There is absolutely no excuse for this weekend, no matter how you try to frame it, and this was the closest thing he's had to an excuse for the last 5 weeks.

Back when Danny Ric was partenered along side Max, I would say Max usually had the upper hand but Danny Ric was no slouch at all, often posting very competitive times. Since leaving Red Bull he obviously had struggles at other teams but if Danny Ric has been able to still show his magic in the Red Bull, and with Perez really having struggles currently.... Danny Ric could well be used to size up Yuki Sunoda and his performance, potentially leading to the top team.

There was a curve trend in the Max vs Ric fight though. As seasons progressed he started beating Ricciardo more regularly (FP, Quali and Race), there was no ceiling for Max yet and i think that scared Ricciardo. Plus the fact that he was so aggressive back then. The 2023 Max would have wiped the floor with the 2019 Max for example. That being sayd Ricciardo has been the only team mate thats been that close to Max so that says alot. I think Ric will do a better job than Perez in the 2nd RB and be closer to Max but probably wont be beating Max in the championship battle. But that's not to say he cant, he has shown he could beat Max on occasion but it remains to be seen where his evolution is atm vs Max. Max is not only getting faster still, his driving is alot more polished with fewer risks. That is a scary prospect for any team mate....

This is not complicated; they were never that sold on De Vries in the first place, so replacing is not that hard a decision. And Ricciardo will give them a better benchmark to judge Tsunoda. If they want to put Tsunoda or Ricciardo in the Red Bull for 2024, they've got plenty of time to make a decision, assuming they can't get Albon or Norris, or even Hulkenberg. Perez too was a compromise, not their ideal candidate. It also gives Ricciardo a chance to get his career going again, and they clearly have more concern for Ricciardo than De Vries. No reason to be more patient with De Vries considering his age. He's not 21 or 22, he's older than Verstappen and Albon.

F1 article quoted sources that said DR's fastest lap was enough to have him on the front row at Silverstone and that was at a tyre test not a qualifying lap so I guess his virtual laps translated to track. Dream scenario for DR will be he outperforms Tsunoda while Perez's form continues to go downhill and then Red Bull switch Perez for Ricciardo in 2024.

Too conservative is a perfect description for Ferrari's race from Ted... The car definitely wasn't 9/10 on pace, but everytime they decide to do a 'contra' strategy, it's onto the slower tyre! I'd rather see the car rip through softer tyres but show actual pace than amble around in the mid pack on hards hoping they've played a blinder.

This move will end another F1 career apart from De Vries'. If Tsunoda is consistently beating Ricciardo, then DR won't be anywhere near an F1 team again. If Ricciardo comes back after an abysmal McLaren stint (and half a year on the sidelines) and beats Tsunoda, there's 0% chance Marko and co will have further plans for Yuki.

RedBull did a terrible mistake when they confirmed Nyck de Vries' seat based on his solitary Williams race, where he finished 9th. He later proved to be a one race wonder, as he struggled in the Alpha Tauri in the 2023 season, failing to score a single point. RedBull is again making the same mistake by gauging Ricciardo's performance based on his lunch time race run ! I hope they are NOT proven wrong again

The Deal from What I understand is that Alpha Tauri recently brought updates for the car, now the Benchmark is Redbull and they're trying to either replicate or get as close to it. Now with Yuki being untested waters and Nick Being untested and unproductive in comparison to Yuki it's a very good possibility for Danny to step in, because as we know Nick is a mercedes driver and Redbull wouldn't want to make a time investment in nick who is a depreciating asset because of his inexperience and mistakes. This gives Redbull a opportunity to score a future driver in Yuki if he has the mettle with a good benchmark against him and give the Alpha Tauri team a proper tested benchmark for more sort of development. But furthermore I would say replacing in middle of the season would suggest as the news goes they're trying to actually bring other involvement in that team possibly a manufacturer for having the Monetary structure.

I think they want to guage how far Yuki has developed by putting him up against another driver with more experience. If Yuki can beat Danny Ric too then they will look to replace Checo for next year if he keeps messing up. Yuki is 10 years younger than Checo and thus could provide a long-term number 2 driver solution.

That’s what I’m thinking too. It’s a brilliant opportunity for Yuki Tsunoda to learn from a more experienced driver and I wonder if it about the future of RB rather than the present. They have nothing to lose by letting Nyck de Vries go and everything to gain by using Dan as a mentor and to gain knowledge about the drivability of the Alpha Tauri. Either way Dan is part of RB now until he retires.
@Switll72
@Switll72 Жыл бұрын
Feel sorry for de Vries but I think he was struggling and obviously RB could see that on collected data of sim and last 10 races, so they decided to answer a few unanswered questions. #1 Has Danny still got it ? #2 Is Yuki good enough ? and #3 they are saying something to Perez, without saying something to Perez. RB cant be sure they will dominate in 2024 and they need a driver that is consistent in the Nr2 seat. Come end of season they would have answered all of the questions, and would only have the question of Lawson left.

Checo was at the end of the pit street so early because he messed up his previous lap and was 14th fastest. The drying track was not guaranteed at that point. Also, Albon was the car behind Checo, and he was half a second faster and did qualify for Q2. Bottom line, Checo messed up himself as well, so he could hardly put everything on the team.
@rachelkoiks

If DeVries wanted easy treatment, he should’ve picked Williams. Pretty sure they welcomed him with open arms and chose Logan AFTER DeVries was announced as an Alpha Tauri driver. THIS IS BETTER for Liam Lawson. Lawson doesn’t have any proof of potential in F1 so if he was put in the car, it didn’t perform, that could be the quick end of his F1 career. Putting DR in the car, doesn’t perform, then they’ll know it’s not the drivers and it’s solely the car that’s the issue. It gives Red Bull a way to measure Yuki, the car, and Danny Ric himself. It also gives DR the opportunity to redeem himself. He gets to build up his resume again since his stock has dropped and reputation tarnished from his Mclaren stint.

Unpopular opinion. Next year the renamed AlphaTauri wil move closer to Milton Keyes. It is rumoured that they will take more parts from Red Bull wich can make the car far more competitive than this years car. Add to that the new management structure and you might just have a real good team on hand. Maybe that's why Daniel agreed to the move.

Daniel has been working off-line to get back onto the grid. He got himself a test drive (tyres?) in one of Max's cars & his times were evidently impressive. Daniel brings brilliant PR image to Red Bull & they all like each other........... however most importantly he can help develop an underperforming car & get it up the grid. Checca is on borrowed time in this ruthless game - something must be happening behind the scenes. 5 races near back of the grid.

My take based on comments made by the parties is that Max and Horner want Ricciardo back in the Red Bull car but that Helmut is not, or was not, convinced that he would be a better option to Perez. The tyre testing is rumoured to have resulting in Ricciardo setting a time that would have put him on the front row of the grid in Silverston, meaning within .25 of a second of Max and a lot quicker than Perez managed. This has clearly caused a major rethink by Helmut and now Ricciardo is moving up to the next step to prove that he really is still good enough to sit in the second Red Bull car. I think the clincher keeping Perez in his seat is that he is still second in the championship and I am sure that Red Bull would like to get the trifecta of 1st and 2nd in the drivers championship and 1st in the manufacturers championship. Clearly, they can’t do that if they replace Perez now. I suspect that if Perez continues to underperform and Ricciardo starts outperforming Yuki, there may be a swap of Danny and Perez. There are a lot of variables for sure.

I think, Daniel's move is a long term plan and it was the only move he had left. If he didn't take the Alpha option then he may never got back on the grid. If he wants to be back on the grid then he has to show what he has left on the table. If I was a team CEO, I wouldn't want to put him in a car without seeing what he could do. Being told by Cristian that Daniel is back doesn't mean anything. Actions speak louder than words. Seeing Daniel dive bomb it down the inside in a late braking move is what teams want to see. If his actions show he can still put it out there, then maybe he will be on track in 24 in the Alpha and then move into Rb for 25 unless they replace Checo and then Lando moves in 26. Daniel lives out his " fairytale " end of his career.
